I dislike those Christians. Jesus never threatened any Jew or said they were sinning because of not accepting them. He wanted those that accepted him to come and spread his word through love and kindness. This is what the Apostles did in the book of Acts. Tolerance and acceptance are part of what a good Christian should have. Remember the words of St. Francis of Assisi "preach the Gospel at all times, maybe even use words". I think those type of Christians need a good reading of the Beautitudes to learn what is their role in the world as Christ's followers.

Everyone has their Heros they emulate. Some choose the life of Jesus. In Pre-Christian times , the ancient world had its heros and people of those times modelled their life after them. People are just that , people. All must find their way to the Path of Life of God, the Source of All. This can be a long road to discovery. God is unique and made all of us in Mankind also unique to reflect a Family semblance. It is not what race we are, or how much power we have, that make us exclusively who we are, but how we , individually behave on this Earth plane of existence or any place else is what in the finale defines what manner of Being , each of us are.
By the way, Jesus the Nazarene is still my Hero too!

your observation is an unfortunate ugliness about human nature: the extemists are loud, and the great moderate middle are quiet
the loudest people are also the people with the dumbest ideas. sad but true, on any range of opinions- religious, political, international, or otherwise. the louder someone is, the dumber they are. the quieter thay are, the smarter they are
so the dumb people, the radical extremes, tend to dominate the conversation, and push the moderate quieter more realistic less hot headed and sober voices aside
i don't know how to solve this problem about human nature. i don't know if there is a solution

I agree with you. It's my belief that TRUE Christianity emphasizes the performance of INWARD examination, rather than urging us to express an OUTWARD, opinionated expression regarding the sinfulness of others. The TRUE calling of a Christian is to abstain from judging others; to give mercy and forgiveness liberally; and to love one another (which is a way of showing love for God).
To me, Christians who emphasize the methods you've described just don't get it. We're supposed to be like little children, not like the men and women who wanted to stone the adulteress to death.

"Evil flourishes when good men do nothing."
As for the e-mails, I agree with you.
I generally refuse to forward, especially if coherced.
Simply delete them and stop the madness.

It seems misguided to me. But then again...maybe I am the misguided one. I really really try not to judge...but it is a difficult task. In some ways, by not judging....you are actually judging...that is why it is so difficult.

The word "tolerance" does not occur in the bible. There are very few biblical passages that promote tolerance, in comparison with its many instances of religious intolerance.
