Infinity: Your point is well taken.. some religions do teach hate...but first was the hate then the religion was doctrined.

Hate was there even before these religions came into existence....

Is hate not an inherent trait of human beings... and they use religions, nationalities, cultures to propagate this hatered ?

Beyond the fear & insecurity is the misconception that if your religion is right then mine is wrong. Too many have sacrificed the spirit of truth for the percieved letter of the law. For me, the individual dogma is unimportant. What is important is this connection I have. All the dogma may be right or wrong, & it matters little except as a tool for each to find this connection inside. God, reality, universal mind, Allah, what ever is your name of choice, can not be understood in its whole by me on this level, so how can I say who is right & who is wrong, or if right & wrong even exist. But this inner connection, that is real, & the purpose behind it all. My mind can never know completely, but I can experience it with something beyond my mind. It seems some just get caught up in details, & lose sight of the goal.
Blessings!

In general, un-checked ego always tries to expand in a crude way and in the wrong direction. A common man identifies (un-checked ego) itself with religion not knowing what was the purpose* behind the religion. Then unknowingly, religion becomes part of it's ego. Then diversity in religion become division. Likes (love) and dislikes (hate) to a religion further consolidates the ego. And when ego is threatened (reduction) then it's tries to fight back in the form of hate, anger, riots, blood-shed, wars and so on.

There are no issues attached with the various religions. It's the "wrong identification" because of "wrong-knowledge" is the crux with the problem.

* Note : Religion is a pointer, which is pointing toward Truth.

The root cause of religious hatred, as well as all evil, ultimately [and it has nothing to do with money or love thereof] is ignorance. To put it more bluntly, stupid people adopt stupid religions of hate.

But I know one thing, God is not behind this hatred. Impossible. Those clergy, whether Jewish, Christian or Muslim who teach hatred and intolerance know nothing about God. Whatever they serve is an imposter.

Good religion is focused on self: making yourself a better person and trying to leave the world at least slighty better for you having existed.

Bad religion is focused on others: making THEM be better persons in conformity with YOUR will and thereby increases the evil, and suffering in the world. And if they refuse to conform? Kill them! or at the very least deny them their human rights as children of God.

One does not cease to be a child of God by being black or white, Muslim or Hindu, Buddhist or Jain. Where we see evil and all these differences, God sees only his children, lost and not all that bright, but has the same love and respect for all. But none are forever lost, or God would not be God, but some pretender to the throne.

Gandhi knew this, but unfortunately, most politicians and religious leaders today do not know it. Their religion is nothing but stupid rules and rituals and dogmas and they DO NOTHING to further the common welfare of humanity. In fact, the world is worse off for them existing. No devil in hell could possibly make the world worse than the religious clergy have made it.

It is the proponents of the religions who are responsible for provoking people to hate one another. It is not wrong for any religions to porpogate itself by highlighting its virtues .But it is not right for any religion to speak ill of the faith of other people and abuse them as demons , pagans , devils etc .People who are insane only will do it and only fools will expect the abused to remain silent without protest or angry response .How can one who abuses others expect the abused people to tolerate the abuses and remain quite? who is sowing the seeds of enmity among people ?, The foolish abuser or the sensitive people who are abused by the fools ?
The root cause is the folly of evangelists and the persons who are paid for their work of conversion of people to some religions .The abusers are the root cause of all the troubles as they are foolish among the human beings .
It is also not correct to say that the religions are not the root cause of this trouble .This you must say after a through reading of the Bible and the Koran. These religions themselves decry the idol worshippers and and denounce them. They call the people of other faiths as non-believers and worshiping demons and require their followers to bring all the people of the world to their faith. They porvide the impetus to their adherents to abuse others .
People should stop commenting about religions without going through the scriptures concerned and should not impute to any religion any character/ virtue ,that it DOES NOT HAVE .One should not forget the fact that these religions were made by people who lived at a time when might was right .So the arrogant and the mighty had their sway in those days .Now that might can not do much damage , people of the world are a bit safe from the violent religions .so the people of he viloent religions are resorting to mass killings and sui cide bombings .Who are the people resorting to the killings in these days ? Try to be honest and fair about finding an answer to this question.for the sake of God .

Monotheism is the root cause of religious hatred. When you say yours is the only God universally adorable to all, you tend to push that god into every body. You brook no dissent and smack of contempt for other religions. You read the history of wars in the name of God. The perpetrators of violence and war did that because they believed that their god commanded them to do it and that the faith of the others against whom the violence is directed is committing blasphemy and hence the violence is justified. The irony is that such wars were fought even among those religions who professed mono theism and owe their origin from the same parental religion.

To remedy the situation, one must recognize the fact that God , albeit his Oneness, is manifested as many and recognized by the different people, in so many forms.

The root cause for Religious hate is Greed, Pride and Selfishness.

Some individuals ABUSE the Holy Texts to further their own Selfish needs and greed for Power and Wealth. They use holy TEXTS as an excuse to justify themselves being Drunk and Tainted by this Power Trip and exercise by controlling the masses of devoted heart to reach their wicked goals

I think it is Ignorance. When a person Ignorant of other religions thinks that only his religion is correct and valid, he thinks that only his way of worship is correct, Like a frog in a well which thinks that the well is whole universe.

From this Ignorance comes Anger and from Anger Fanaticism-the mother of all violence. You can see that a Religious Fanatic is always filled with anger, jealousy and hatred for other religions, so he wastes time in defaming other religions, and thinks he is fighting for god.

Because religion demands a response. For example, to the teaching that everyone will be judged alone, before God, right after death, you can only respond positively or negatively (that is bull*****). You'd have the sense of a slug if you said, I don't care whether that is true or not. Of course, you do. Eternal damnation, judgment before God. Come on.

Ignorance ( which is not the same as stupidity) and fear....really, it's all about feeling queasy about people who are different than we are....but, can you imagine how boring it would be if everyone was exactly like you?
Let's cut to the chase..some people believe in divine guidance, and sometimes intervention, of a greater intelligence than our own, and this is called "spirirtual", not "religious"..
Along with everything else he screwed up, only George W. Bush could be so IGNORANT as to confuse his beliefs with the term "intelligent design"...

No religions are definately not the cause of religious hatred, instead it is the followers who are responsible for theit religion to be seen as a hateful one!

I guess the cause of religious hatred is lack of complete faith in one's own religion and insecurity about themselves being seen as not "religious enough" as their guilt rides high for not being able to follow their religion to the last word, resulting in their becoming vociferous, and often violent in the pretense of defending their religion thereby wanting to be seen as highly religious in their own religious community. It is a defense mechanism of people who are weak at heart and will and have a low level of faith in what they follow as religion.

Thats what I feel. I have been blunt, but didnt mean to hurt anyone's feelings. If anyone finds this answer offending, my apologies, in advance. Thanks
