No. I think the world is very much straying away from the bible, due the fact that everyone is all about having items, rather than values

Since there are so many people who interpret the bible differently out there then it would be kind of impossible. Which interpretation do you believe is the true interpretation? There are some people out there who are very adamant about their interpretations. They will say that all who do not follow their interpretation is not following the bible correctly. So from that sense, no one really follows the bible correctly.
Also, there are lots of parts of the bible that are ignored. There are some laws in the OT that have some pretty brutal punishments. One even says you are supposed to stone kids who do not show respect to their parents. Leviticus has all sorts of brutal stuff like this. Some say that the NT overrides this stuff but they cannot provide a passage that backs it up. That is with the NT even having a passage where Jesus says that he is not there to destroy the olds laws(Matthew 5:17). You see, this is another example of how people will interpret things differently. Some will skip past this stuff and some will hold true to it. There are many who will pick the parts out of the OT that they are willing to follow and then ignore the rest of the stuff.

No, I'll knock them on their bum. But I'm not a Christian.
Funny that you should bring it up, though. I guarantee of all of the holy rollers on these forums, there is maybe one or two who may actually turn the other cheek. And even that is unlikely. Most Christians follow the parts of the Bible that are convenient to their daily lives.

I don't think anyone follows the Bible literally. The passage, "An eye for an eye" just doesn't work. If your neighbor with a BB gun accidently shoots your sons eye, you don't have the legal right to go shoot him in the eye. We have a modern society with laws that have to be followed. Some parts of the Bible can be followed to the letter, while others can not. You need to use your judgment.

It's so full on contradictions, one is left to make their own choices about what is correct. This is either proof of the importance of free will or proof that the bible is just a book written and edited by men for their own ends.

I am sure many try to. It is not an easy thing to do. We all are only human. When we see someone fall short of doing what the Bible teaches, we are so quick to point a finger. But remember. When you point your finger at others, 3 fingers are pointing back at you. Are you living your life according to what the Bible says? Clean up your own back yard before you try to clean up someone elses. :) When we fall short, we can talk to God for forgiveness and we try again.

Some parts I do others I don't. I try to be good to my fellow man. I don't worship God or stone my children. When I do good I wouldn't say I am following the bible more that we share the same belief when it comes to those parts I agree with.

I don't think there is one way of following the Bible. Christians perceive or translate it as they like, hence why there are so many different Christian denominations of churches and ways of worship and different types of Bibles too (King James, etc.)!

Unless you are Jesus and on the earth in second coming. The self- righteousness of people separates when they believe they do all that God wants. We all fall short. There is not one but God that is perfect. We need to come together in support for each other.
