our new neighbor's dog barks with a very squeaky high sound. Have no idea what r they doing with the dog, but 1-6am (!!!) that dog barks like crazy. Also, may be they're keeping dog in a cage or something like that, but it sounds like dog tries to get out of it and you can hear that cage (?) banging against the wall!! and that room is right below our bedroom!

That is adult dog, I would understand if it was a puppy in training...but this one, I just had enough of it....

I'm ready to buy this: http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2751312&cp=2767032.2767085&view=all&fbn=Taxonomy%7CTraining+%26+Behavior&f=Taxonomy%2FPET%2F2767085&fbc=1&parentPage=family&keepsr=1

But, our other neighbor, very nice lady, has 2 cats! I just don't want this device to hurt other animals.....

Anybody knows how that device works? Any other suggestions how to calm that dog down??

Thanks!!! :)

We had one for our dog & it didn't work. It would be absolutely inappropriate for you to put this on an animal that doesn't belong to you. Talk w/ your neighbor or put a note in her mailbox. Contact the city and see what the city ordinace is. Make a complaint through the police department. You may just have to deal with it. There are a lot of crappy neighbors out there and maybe you live next to one.

As far as I know the device makes an abrupt sound that only the dog (maybe cats???) can hear and it is supposed to startle them in their barking. It is somewhat, what you would do if you were going to teach them not to bark. But being present would be better. When the dog is about to bark you immediately distract him and make an abrupt noise. Each time he starts to bark, make the noise and distract him. You can use the word no, but he doesn't have the faintest idea what the word means...that's why a noise will work. It's just something to break his attention from the bark. You can even teach a door/bell dog, to bark once or twice and then stop....by allowing them to bark and then make the noise and interrupt them. This only works when you are present and can observe the dog for a period of time. I don't know about the device. Since you cannot hear it and if it failed during the training period it would actually reinforce the barking.

This device won't hurt other animals, but it won't stop the dog's barking for long, either. He'll grow used to it.
The tried and true is best here: go to your neighbor and discuss the situation. Be friendly, not angry. The person may work nights, and so may be unaware that his dog is barking so much?
Recommend a bark collar, which at least has the merit of being effective.

I wouldn't buy that, cause all it would do is annoy you too, it might not work well through walls. I would talk to the neighbors. Most are nice about the whole thing if you go up to them and say that you just are trying to sleep and was wondering if there is anything they can do. Don't go over there yelling, because then everyone gets defensive even if they know they are in the wrong.
I have a puppy that barks in here crate some times, and if someone asked me about it i'd do all i could to make sure that she wasn't disturbing people. Just talk to your neighbor and be polite.

I don't think that would work for getting a dog downstairs to stop barking. All it does is make a horrible high pitch sound when the dog barks. You can hear it too, so it will mostly just annoy you extra.

I've known people who've used them that say they don't work at all to begin with.

The others are spot on-talk to the owner, talk to your landlord, and if need be talk to animal control.

U can nicely ask the people if the dog is sick or if there's something wrong with it because the squeeling keeps u up at night.......Dog people get very defensive when it comes to their dogs they're just like children to them so I wouldn't tell them to put the bark device on their dog.......I'm a dog person and have 2 of my own and I'd get offended if someone told me to put barking device on my dogs but it would be nice if someone told me or asked me about it....Good luck!

A dog should be trained on how to eat, walk with you, not to bark, potty training and sleep on its place etc. You can teach anything to your puppy, dogs get trained easily with some good instructions. If you want some good training tips visit https://tinyurl.im/Rasr1

If properly trained, they should also understand whistle and gesture equivalents for all the relevant commands, e.g. short whistle or finger raised sit, long whistle or flat hand lay down, and so on.

It's important that they also get gestures and whistles as voice may not be sufficient over long distances and under certain circumstances.
