Due to FCC regulation, all TV broadcasts are required to be in digital format by February 17, 2009. How this affects you depends on what you have.

If you have digital satellite or cable you don't need to worry. The provide the correct programming and the receivers already have an analog-to-digital converter (the coaxial connection to your TV). If you don't have a receiver for their programming, contact your provider and ask them about getting one.

If, however, you only watch free-to-air analog programming you will need a digital converter box to decode the signal into something your TV (digital or analog) your will be able to show.

after febuary 2009 television reception over the air, like you get with rabbit ears antenna will stop.

Satelite and Cable will continue to serve you the same way, if that's what you use.

As mentioned above, you can get a new tv, or an adapter box, and they keep talking about cheap deals to make sure everybody can have one, or a lot of new DVD recorders have channel tuners on them so they can see and record the new digital channels like your old VCR has been doing for 25 years

If you are referring to the new digital signal that will be on the cable lines in 2009, it means if you have an older TV with an analog tuner you will have to buy or rent a Digital Converter in order for older TV's to work. Many newer TV's now have digital tuners already in them.
