SPCA usually is $150.00 for puppies they base that to 2 years and under and $75.00 for adult 2 years and above. Which is good because they have all their shots and you can go back to get their shots usually free (atleast you can where I live) and you get a free exam to the VET of your choise.

The rescue groups try to collect an amount to cover the expensive they have had on the dog. Usually it will run from $75.00 up to $300. But they are more interested in whether you can afford the daily care and will be able to give the animal a good home. A dog can be an expensive, Food, shelter, medical Vet bills. And a greyhound is a dog that needs to run, so be prepared to have a very bad neurotic dog if you do not take him to exercise 1 to 2 times a day for an hour. No exercise make a very bad behaviored dog. Get a dog that fits your life style and both of you will be happy.

Usually you can buy a dog from a rescue organization for about $100. Sometimes less, often more, especially for dogs a lot of people want (such as purebreds or puppies).
City- or county-run animal shelters are usually the cheapest place to get animals. I think it's maybe about $40 around my house. However, it's harder to find the dog you're looking for here. Private rescues adopt many of the best, most-adoptable dogs from shelters. Also, often dogs' stay there is very short, so you need to visit regularly to keep seeing the changing selection.

It depends on what all the dog has had done. I'll give you an example of the prices we have at the shelter I work at.
Pups usually go for $120, with $20 of that being a spay/neuter deposit that you'd get back when proof of the alteration is provided.
Adults vary anywhere from $100 to $250. Dogs on the higher end of the scale are usually dogs that have had a lot of training, are housebroken, and already been fixed.
When they come into the pound, they get started on worming medication and the vaccinations are updated.
Since you're looking for a specific breed, look into breed rescues.

I think that the rescue here in WI it is about $200 for the initial rescue cost. They also have you fill out an application and come check your home and the like. I wanted to adopt a greyhound, but the more I thought about it wasn't sure that he/she would fit my lifestyle at the time...
I have found though, that buying/adopting the animal is the cheap part. It's all the cost thereafter that you really need to consider.

Usually a common dog costs about from $100-$200. A Greyhound would cost about $180. You can learn more by going and exploring the Humane Society website at www.hsus.org/pets. Hope you get the Greyhound! Dogs are really sweet and I love them. It's better to get a dog from the Humane Society, because they are rescued.

Even if you can afford to adopt the dog please consider the other costs involved before adopting any pet. Dogs require yearly vaccinations, spay/neuter, yearly heartworm testing and preventatives, and also yearly flea/tick preventatives. Not to mention emergency situations where your dog may require expensive care such as surgery. I see too many people on here asking what do I do my dog needs this or that and I can't afford it. Proper care of a dog costs money and if you can't afford to pay for it do yourself a favor and don't get one right now. It can only lead to heartache.

The price range will vary between $50.00 to $300.00 depending on the organization, location and services provided. I work closely with the local GPA (Greyhound Pets of America) located in the Panhandle of Florida and we have an adoption fee of $200.00 which includes spay/neuter, shots, current flea/tick control and heartworm meds. Most have already been "home-trained" meaning they have lived in a foster home to prepare them for adoption.
Take in thought not only the adoption price you will pay, but also supplies you must have on hand before you acquire the dog. Supplies such as a crate (a must for Greyhounds), dishes, food (high quality), brushes, shampoos, etc... will have to be purchased prior to adoption. The most average price of setting up your dog for the first year amounts to just about $1500.00.
Most Greyhounds can be seen at Meet & Greet locations. I highly recommend purchasing and reading a book entitled "Retired Racing Greyhounds for Dummies". It's an excellent resource of information! Check on Amazon.com for great prices!

$75 is about average. And really, that's a deal cuz you most always get all the shots, meds, and the pup will be checked by a vet. Usually the pet will be spayed, or they give you a certificate for, say, a $20 spaying or neutering. I've adopted and I think it's the best way to go! Have fun :)

The normal price is from about $50 to $150 depending on the area, the breed and how much medical care they may have required. You can do an internet search for rescues in your area, check you local shelter or go to petfinder.com and put in the breed along with your location. Please be prepared for the additional cost of feeding, training and emergency vet care when or if needed along with treats, equipment and annual vaccinations & check-ups. Best of Luck!
