My dog is the same way. He has stepped on my heels before because he was following so close. I have to agree with the other poster that said that these dogs are pack animals and that is how they travel. Also you may have spoiled your dog a bit, too. Don't feel bad though because mine is the same way but he still knows his place in our "pack".

Dogs are pack animals. They travel in packs my friend. You need to be his pack leader and you should make sure of that. He looks up to you for guidance. I hope you have enough respect for his life that you train him and make him a good citizen for all the people around you. If you don't want him on the bed you must train him to sleep elsewhere. You have a friend no matter what and he needs to be appreciated for that. He will never betray you, he will protect you, and he'll be there for you when no one else will. Love him and be happy you have such a good pet. He will respect you for training him to be a good follower.

dogs are just like children they need the same love and devotion we give to children. all my animals sleep with me and if i can i take them anywhere i go. buy a dog stroller that way he or she can go everywhere with you, shopping, visiting.
take it in stride dogs have more personality and feeling than most people think

Because you have not taught him any differently. For you he is a human.
He is in a dominate role in your house. I'll bet he preceeds you out the door and walks ahead of you when you put him on a leash???? He is the PACK LEADER because you did not assume that role. He is doing your job. and the bed is his.

Because you probably let him.

You need to show your dog that you are in charge, you are the Alpha. Consult a trainer in your area.

You ave failed to establish yourself clearly as the leader and you have instituted a "separation anxiety disorder" in your pet.

I let mine sleep with me too, but by God when I say "off" she gets the Hell outta the bed! I take her when i ask her to go for a "car ride". Unless she hears that, she KNOWS better than to jump in my car.
