I don't think there is a definite answer to this question, as every girl is different in the way she prefers to be propsed to. For me I wanted something low-key and romantic with just the two of us. And it's a darn good thing my fiance asked my sister because he was going to propse to me in front of my entire family at my dad's b-day dinner...how embarrassing and not private. I just wanted to share that special moment with him and then express our feelings to everyone else afterward. He ended up decorating our entire house with candles, rose petals, confetti, wine, chocolate covered strawberries...the whole nine yards. I was sooo surprised to come home from a great party with my closest friends to a romantic getaway in our own home. It was wonderful!! I'll never forget it!!

Well there are different things for different girls- the whole scoreboard thing is probably not a good idea- unless you have talked seriously about marriage- it could put her under too much pressure...not to mention it isn't at all romantic... I agree with the previous post- have her come in and have the house candle lit, maybe have a bouquet of flowers inside the door, a box of chocolate down the hall, champagne set up, kenny g playing! and then tell her all of the reasons you love her- besides the normal you are smart, funny ect. really tell her, make it more personal than a hallmark proposal ya know? maybe you could make dinner for her, or draw up a warm bath with rose petals floating, there is a show called I Propose on one of those channels that always plays wedding shows- you could get ideas from there... however you do it good luck!

I don't know if there is a most romantic way - it's definitely situational

I chose a moment when my g/f (now wife) was having a "girls night" with her best friends. And her friends were in on it.

They pre-decorated a side room and we invited some friends and family. There was also a wedding dinner taking place near the same room, so her girlfriends convinced her they were going to crash the party, instead they brought her to where I was waiting with a pink rose and an engagement ring - in my Tux. I proposed on one knee of course.

My brand new fiance just asked me in the most romantic way for us. We planned to exchange Christmas presents last weekend before the chaos begins. We opened our gifts, then I mentioned that I put a few little things in his stocking. He said, oh, if I'd known we were doing stockings, I would have put your ornament in yours. I said, you got me an ornament? He said, yeah, it's hanging on the tree. I got up and looked around the tree (our first Christmas tree in our new house!) and there, hanging near the top, on a green ribbon, was the most beautiful ring i've ever seen. I gasped and turned around to find him on one knee. He simply said, will you marry me? And I FREAKED out!!
It's been 6 days and i still can't get the dopey grin off my face!

Do what your heart tells you to do. It will be very emotional. Don't plan exactly what you are going to say too much.
