I'm making a gingerbread house
Im just wondering whether (for the house) whether you can use the recipe for gingerbread men, or whether you have to use a special recipe for gingerbread houses.
if you need a special recipe it would be great if you could give one

Thanks

You can use the same recipe.
I use one from allrecipes.com that's perfect. I made ginger bread houses and gingerbread men for 85 people and it worked perfectly.

The key is to make sure that you DON'T use store-bought dough (it's way too greasy and sticky to bake up firm enough) and don't roll it out any thinner than 1/4 to 1/2" thick.

GOOD LUCK and Merry Christmas!

Graham wafers/crackers are good building material, There is a recipe out there for a house building material made out of peanut butter, brown sugar and an egg. You mix it well, put it in a large cookie sheet and flatten it out and bake it. It goes rock hard but is tasty... I saw the recipe on a previous mail. But any nut allergy sufferers would have to be warned - to heck with it use graham crackers! You can always make a rolled sugar cookie dough too. I made a gingerbread village with 5 different kinds of dough and a cake - Joy of cooking - Eggless, Milkless, all Rye Honey cake was great to make the lighthouse - I did a seaside village with lighthouse, church, village, pier and a tow boat pulling a barge with Santa's gifts on it.

Not too sure about the whole baking thing ... but here's an easy and yummy (and kid friendly) GB house how-to ...

Form the house over a small milk carton using icing and graham crackers then decorate with gumdrops, sweet tarts or any other candy you want using the icing as the "glue."

It's fun and easy to make! A nice activity for kids maybe on xmas eve when they're antsy and anxious with anticipation.

If the dough will work for G-men, it will work for a G-house. You want a stiff, crisp cooie, not a soft, chewy one.
