I've been drinking lots of water for 2 days and sleeping..and all I've been eating is soup, but it still won't go away! I have bad body aches, I'm constantly feeling tired, ear aches, congestion and a mild cough. Do you know anything that I can take or do to get rid of this in 3 days, or make it not as bad??

All you can do is really just tough it out. The flu doesn't last that long, just keep taking nyquil or whatever and it should help you. By the time you get off of the flight, you should be well rested enough to enjoy yourself outside of the country. I tend to always get sick right before I'm going somewhere fun.

Unlike a cold, the flu takes longer to get out of your system. If I were you, I'd postphone your trip. To be sick and in a strange country=no fun. Also, you'll be endangering others traveling and staying with you.
Next year- get a flu shot.
Actually, I think you could cancel if you obtained a doctor's statement regarding your situation. The airline isn't going to fight this one if you're still sick.

If your flu is not better in three days then you should postpone your trip. With your immune system down you would be susceptible to all kind of bacteria from the other country. However I know you more than likely not do that so you should see a doctor and see what they say.

You know what sometimes its a good idea not to go. I know it might ruin your plans, but.... ask yourself
Have I seen a doc and really know its influenza?
Am I prepared to pay for and use the medical services available in my guest country, remember influenza is fatal in tens of thousands of cases.
Is my trip worth sickening dozens.hundreds of others? And ruining their holidays?
Will the people I expect to see on my trip appreciate the burden of a sick visitor?
Am I sure I will be allowed to return home if still sick?
I have been on all sides of this issue before. Stay home!

Do not get on an airplane if you have a fever with the flu. You could get flagged in customs and detained. Some countries have some sort of heat sensor to alert them to passengers with fevers. Plus you could expose all your fellow travelers. I would ask my local pharmacist what they would advise you to take. Good Luck and Happy Travels.

the flu will last 2 weeks, and you should not fly if you have it. All you do then is expose everyone on the plane, and make yourself miserable and perhaps even sicker than you are now. Postpone or cancel the trip, be responsible and smart.

It depends which country you are going to.but you should be fine in 3 days,if you carry on sleepng lots, drinking plenty and eating as healthy as possible. it may be rather uncomfortable flying with the flu(sitting on a crowded plane ).just keep asking for water, and sleep as much as poss on the flight!
good luck!
