I have a very painful back injury with severe sciatica that just won't go away. I've been taking percocet and/or lortabs for the better part of the last 2 years. The last 3 weeks, I have barely been able to walk, and have been in the ER twice because the pain was unbearable, apparently physical therapy has done more harm than good. So, my doc recently put me on oxycontin & I'm still supposed to take lortabs for breakthrough pain. This is day 4. and the only real difference I notice is that I'm very constipated...sorry...TMI, just want some more info on oxy.

the Oxycontin is the same ingredient as the percocet.but the
has no acteamenpohen in it. only difference being a percocet you can take every 4 to 6 hours as needed .. an Oxycontin is still oxycodone, the difference being the contin in Oxycontin stands for continuous or extended release for up to 12 hours.. I take the 10mg Oxycontin once every 12 hours and take the lortab for breakthrough pain, and yes almost any morphine based pain reliever will cause constipation. If the Lortab doesn't help your breakthrough pain they also have a 5mg oxyir Immeadiate release that helps the pain

Oxycontin is much the same as the Percocet, it has no tylenol in it like Percocet does, and is absorbed more rapidly, but as far as pain relief, it is pretty much equivalent.

I was on narcotics for a long period of time and for the constipation take mira lax. Dont do the recommended dose though only like a tablespoon when your constipated and it helps. Mix it in whatever your drinkin you cant taste it.
