It sounds like you need to do a little more research. I just wrote a very, very long answer to a question about beagles here:

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AvadO33VIyH1a4S6lJzGPH3ty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20071220195809AA8TDZB&show=7#profile-info-f0231676c4c13b8d0dde099546e57c55aa

and you can read about the kind of lifestyle that would suit a beagle.

Beagles are good dogs but they are definitely not the breed for everyone and many say they don't make good first-time dogs.

Lastly, there is no such thing as a miniature beagle. The breed standard does specify that there are two sizes, but the smaller one is by no means considered "miniature". It's possible for people to list their dogs as "miniature" to advertise runts.

I have a female 13" beagle - got her when she was 9 weeks old. Her name is Pebbles and she is the sweetest natured dog I've ever had. She's very playful and loves to give kisses. On the other side, beagles are notorious chewers so I kennel mine during the day. If you have the time and patience to train her, you'll be rewarded with a most faithful pup!

What the hell is a miniature Beagle? Never heard of one. Has such a thing been recognized by the AKC or is this just another crook trying to put a cutzy name on a poor quality pup to sell it quicker?

Beagles are great dogs. There is no such thing as a miniature beagle. There are 13 and 15 inch beagles, and Pocket Beagles, which are smaller but a different breed and VERY expensive, so they wouldn't be giving away. Beagles can be noisey though, and they have a stronger doggy odor than other dogs, but they are overall pretty easy to keep. You just need to train them like every other dog. Also, don't let a beagle roam... they follow their noses and get lost easily

There is no such thing as a "miniature" beagle...This is nothing more then a marketing ploy.

*****there is also no "pocket" Beagle either...these are all gimics a person should steer clear of...these so called breed variations are from irresponsible breeders who use these types of marketing gimics to sell puppies..often these dogs are plagued with health issues*******

Miniature beagle means... beagle runt. No such thing as a mini beagle. I would be careful, since runts often times means high vet bills throughout its lifetime. And I have two beagle mixes, and let me tell you, they are stubborn little things. Wonderful dogs, but don't get one unless you're really going to make a commitment to training it.

That lady has a sickly dog. It will probably have numerous medical problems that could be very costly. You should be prepared to take on the possibly very expensive "free" dog.

Beagles are the cutest little things. Make sure you have a fenced in yard for letting it out to exercise. They tend to follow their nose and will be gone in a flash.

Depends on your social life, if you are away from home a lot then i wouldn,t recommend you having a puppy, as they like a lot of company and require a lot of attention. Though if you spend a lot of time at home, a puppy can bring you a lot of enjoyment.

If you can afford it, (dogs are expensive) and if you are not allergic, and if you have time, every single day for it, then go for it! Dogs are great company, and if it's a puppy, even better. you can train it and it will be very loyal to you, and you can teach it to fetch the paper...isnt that sweet?
