I am a 25 year old female...
(It's the generic form of Addy called D-Amphetamine salt combo 20mg, not quite sure if it's the Extended Release because the pharmacist gave me the papers acting as if it was but she only said it would last 6 to 7 hours of what I could remember, I am not sure! Now.... I took my dosage of one pill every morning...I took my first one at around 10ish and then I noticed I went back to normal closer to 5ish....Now I was very unhappy when I felt I was coming back to my original self and now I am very sad, isolated, dont want to really talk because I felt so good being on it, I was so focused and ready to take charge..I was very happy and attentive.......what does this mean and why I am going through withdrawls.......It's my first day on it... And I want to feel content whenever I am up....why does it go away so fast!!! Thats not what I expected! Then why be on something that goes from a constant upper to lower, thats nutts to me........

I adding to what some of you already said because I need verification. It's a orangbe tablet, tastes like an orange...and maybe for Rn or Pharmacists out there maybe you have better understanding...My doctor told me to wait close to a month before I run out and then make a follow up appointment to see how I am doing she said this might do the job....but as I recall it didnt for as long as I thought it would...Now it's a B 923/20 on the tablet if that helps to know which Adderall I am taking! I mean should I wait like she said or even give it a week....and is this normal...I mean this drug has covered all aspects that may tie into many things but it wraps it all up! I appreciate the educated answers so far please keep it up...and help me understand the off road part as coming down...its seems like its all up in my face I am a newbie, dont like coming down cause it makes me feel depressed....Is this a life time change...because I couldnt imagine being me without it..as bad as that sounds

I too am a 25-year-old female that currently takes Adderall 20mgs to treat my ADHD. I take the capsule which is the XR. I however don't seem to be having the problem you are having with the feeling that it is wearing off. Maybe you need to call your pharmacist and ask if you are taking the XR, because it sounds like you are not. The way my doctor explained it to me was that the Adderall works much quicker than most other medications prescribed for ADHD - she said that instead of taking a week or so to get into your system, it starts to take a noticible effect quickly, as quickly as Tylenol or Advil, so that you would notice within 45 minutes or an hour. However, since I am taking the XR, I don't know that the same rules apply to your situation. I will tell you that as far as I can tell, the XR seems to last all day long for me. Also, I am not supposed to take mine if it is after 12 p.m. because it will cause me to not be able to sleep. I should also tell you that I take several other medications to treat my Bi-Polar Disorder which may also have an effect on how well mine works for me as well.

If you try the Adderall XR and it still doesn't seem to help you out much, then you may want to talk to your doctor about trying one of the other medications to treat ADHD in adults. There are actually several different ones available, but a lot of doctors like to try the Adderall first since it is the one with the quickest and most noticible results. Of course no two people respond to medications the same way, so the next medication you try might not help you the same as it would effect someone else you know who takes it either. It's kind of a guessing game for a while. It took me almost two years until my doctor and I found the right combination of drugs to treat my Bi-Polar and now she is a little iffy about adding and subtracting anything at all, she prefers to adjust dosages and that's all. I hope things work out well for you and you find something that works really well for you.

Well, is it a capsule or a tablet? A capsule would be ER and a tablet would be IR. However, if you were taking IR, I would think that you would take one in the morning and one around lunchtime. I think you are on the ER and they don't really last as long as they're supposed to.

Just remember, what goes up, must come down! You can't be addied up all the time!

If it were the extended relief it would last for more then 7-8 hours - that is the whole premise behind it being extended relief. My daughter takes the XR after the other wearing off too quickly.

Adderall will build up over time, give yourself a week at the current dose, if you find you are still crashing at the end of the day, call your doctor and discuss an increase in dose.
