It's one of my favorite expressions, but I don't want to offend any religions if I can help it.

Somehow I doubt it,but even if it did why should they be offended? I mean "Holy Cow",can everyone quit being offended?!

Just kidding,I wouldn't want to offend them either. In fact one of the few religious groups I wouldn't try to offend. Perhaps because they seem less "offensive" than other religions.

THE term: 'HOLY COW' ORIGINATED IN INDIA, it somewhat is concept THAT THE COW IS worth OF WORSHIP INFACT A COW is likewise pronounced as mom AND WORSHIPED IN INDIA by ability of THE HINDU MAJORITY inhabitants or perhaps THEY DRINK THE COW URINE AND SPRINKLE IT OVER THEIR nutrients, this entire 'BULL****' is seen AUSPICIOUS'' AND PRACTICED EVEN by ability of THE knowledgeable city inhabitants.

No it is a curse that comes from the story of the golden calf in that Moses destroyed with the original 10 commandments.

I think it refers to the golden calf that the Israelites created while Moses was up on the mountain receiving the Ten Commandments. I don't know its origin as a slang phrase though.

The expression holy crap comes from someone that ate a piece of toast that had the image of the Virgin Mary on it. A few hours later... holy crap.

according to research it is a term of the sacred cow and also a term from biblical terms of the pagans and the sacred cow.

also it quotes as a source for it's being used so much the broadcasters Phil Rizzuto and Harry Caray who used the term quite frequently in their baseball broadcasts.

And think, if it were Holy Bull!
Someone would eventually, for man is also irreverently playful, would add to it : S**T! to the end of Bull.
It just wouldn't work . . well, I think it 'd work a lot of a H*ll!
