Why we do not remember our past lives?

This was a question asked (believe it or not) by the Christian apologist Justin Martyr in 110 AD. If as the Hindus believe, we are to learn from our mistakes by being born another time into this world then to learn we must remember the mistakes. I am paraphrasing his words of course.
Those who think that they remember their past lives are often listening to false spirits who discribe the life of someone who lived in the past.
If souls are recycled then where do the new ones come from? There is an ever increasing amount of people on the earth.

Man is nearly mad with the experiences of this life. It is a great blessing that we don't remember our past lives. But nothing is lost it can be remembered. Remembering one's past life is not very difficult thing. But what is important is the preparation for that. First one should be centered in this life so that no experiences of this life disturbs him. The person who practices for remembering the past life should be able to view this life impassionately. Just like a movie. Then you can go into your past lives. there are other methods to go into your past lives. That is through hypnotism. in hypnotic trance you are unconcious. So no past life memories disturb you. Remembering past lives will completely disturb you. Your wife must have been your mother in the past life. Your friend could have been your enemy.

There are cases of people who remember their past lives. In oriental spiritual practices going to past life is very important.becuase whatever you have been doing now, You have been doing in your past life also.This when understood by a seeker, a total transformation happens to him. Even in this life if you go back a little you will see that for what you were ready to lay down your life a few years back hardly bothers you now. With such heat and passion we lead our lives and we have been doing it always. This understanding takes away all the steam from your present life. A seeker after a stage is led into his past lives by the master.

It is good that we do not remember our past lives. Only in cases where it is good to go into past life regressions, our past lives can be brought to life through regression. It is the mercy of the Lord. If we remembered all the terrible things we had done and been through we would die of shock immediately. Also it would be very difficult to go one with ones new illusion if they had full memory of their last lives. It is the way God wanted it for us. A few have the ability to see into past lives, but most who claim they do are all nonsense. IT would be easy to believe someone because we have no idea and they can plant those things in ones mind. I came to understand about reincarnation reading a book called Many Lives Many Masters. (I forget the authors name. Written by a hypnotist who accidentally brought someone into a past life. He didn't believe or not believe in reincarnation, until this happened, now he certainly does, as do I. I have journeyed into some of my past lives to heal some trauma, which steamed from other lives and it was quite shocking. Sometimes some of our deep inner pain, anger, grief or even physical problems are steaming from a past life trauma and our subtle body and cell memory remembers. We can go back,to the original trauma that caused us this emotional or physical condition (may be in this life or a past one) but it is painful, I have experienced. Takes too much courage to do it. But if one does it and forgives all involved in the situation it can really heal someone. This process is taught in the book the Journey by Brandon Bays.

It's because the compassion of mother nature that it draws a curtain and cleans us the slate, so that we can start afresh and draw conclusions from given lessons. But we draw lessons from conclusion. In other words instead of exhausting our accumulated Karmas and realizing God, we create new set of Karmas, which becomes propelling force for the next births.

Theoretically, if this is not done, then life will be very tough for us to lead life. Think how many wives, kids and parents you will have? May be with that much pain and pleasure this body explodes.

I think it's the same reason that we don't remember our celestial home before this life. It would distract us from the lessons in this life time.

I remember some of my past lives, but I wasn't such a nice person in all of them. There is one in particularl that I wish I didn't remember, but it explains a lot of the 'karma' in my current life.

But we have to accept who we are, warts and all.

You remeber your past life till the age of 5 because when you die and come back again on this earth you will have a faint idea about your past life.......but after that you won't be remebering it because you will be growing up and you will forget those memories which you had in your childhood.If one comes to know about his past life then it is very difficult for that person to lead a normal life after that because in the past life the same human being might be a wife husband mother father brother or sister where in they are associated with so many people and they have they own style of living they suffering and stuff like that so if you see all those things or remember them then you would'nt be able to adjust in this particular life because here you may be donning a role of some one else may be a father mother brother sister husband or wife so you can't live with these people when you know that in your pervious life you were like this and many of your people are still alive and are wanting that you come back.....so it is very difficult....but yes if you want to know what the past life was then you can go into your past life there are people who will help you out and take you into your previous life regression and they get you back to this normal life but whenever you go into regression they be be some changes which you see might be violent or anything so you have to cut off from that and come back otherwise you can't lead a normal life anymore it is not advisible to go in your past life regression but if you have a person who does this and can get you back to normalcy then try out once and see.....what you were in your past life,............

How many things we can remember in this life ? If we could remember everything from our past lives, our present life would be impossible to live. So the Lord keeps all our past lives recorder in His own way of record keeping and let us begin with a clean slate and time to time past lives Karma which are still in seed form , becomes flower and act on us and we build new needs of Karma from this life.
