How long after I put on Frontline Plus for dogs can I give my dog a bath? I have a 5 month old Maltese and I am just wondering how long I should wait to give him a bath after I apply the Frontline.

Thank you!

WOW....people are rude! I have NOT applied the Frontline yet, I will bathe him FIRST and I will read the box FISRT as well. I never once said that his color, breed, etc had anything to do with it. And furthermore, he's a maltese, I bathe him WEEKLY. I was just looking for some advice from people who have already used this product!!

I think they say 2 days, but I usually wait about a week, just to be sure all the medication has full effect

I would wait until the puppy is a little older before giving him any Frontline. I would wait until the dog is at least 9 months old maybe even 12 months old. And unless you live in the warmer climates, there is no need to give him Frontline until the spring.

I gave Frontline to one of my dogs when he was 6 months old (he weighed about 10 pounds at the time). The Frontline made him really sick. Frontline is powerful stuff, as is the Advantix stuff, and I would put off giving it to him until he's a little older unless you are in an area that has a lot of ticks. And even then, I would use something less powerful until he got a little older. Chances are that your maltese isn't going to be running in the woods or going into areas with a lot of ticks.

Oh, and your dog probably doesn;t need to be bathed every week. Unless he's getting into stuff, once a month is probably plenty. Excessive washing can harm their skin.

I would bath the dog first and according to the vet wait a couple of days before applying medication. If you have applied the med wait a couple of day for bath. It is suppose to be waterproof.

I would just give him a bath first.
I have retrievers and always have a dilemma with them swimming after wards.
It does break down the product so that you don`t get the full month that the instructions say.
Good Luck

If you give him a bath before applying wait 48 hours...the same goes for after a bath.

I think it's 2 to 3 days after wards! But I'm not sure, if you look on the back of the box, under how to use it should say. And if not you can call your veternarian and ask them. They always want to make sure your animals are getting the right treatment!
Good Luck!!
