I was wondering if the Hawaii job corps is a good place to get my education and live there permanently. I am now in Las Vegas trying to get out. This place sucks! In my opinion, there are a lot of really sketched out, nosy people around here. Not for me. Anyways, just wanted to know if anyone has even heard of Job Corps. If so, is Hawaii the place for me?. I heard it's really beautiful over there, but expensive. Although Hawaii has the lowest unemployment rate.

You need to make sure you can enroll in Hawaii Job Corps before you consider moving here. It is many times more expensive than Las Vegas! Low unemployment means that there are jobs paying $10 all over the place, but you can't live on that. Please contact JC directly and ask them before you move here.

Aloha from Down Unda!
I'm from Chicago where I was paid in High School through the Chicago Job Corp intercity as a Stage Manager for our school auditorium, during to summer, of all things! [1966-67]
By 1979 I had 12 years as a soldier & got out of the Army in Honolulu [Schofield Barracks] & became a taxi driver for 16+ years. The Honolulu Job Corps was recessed across from Hanama Bay, & I saw the 'facility' on very few occassions. It looked kinda like boot camp for the disinfranchised but much better than the blizzards of Chicago!
In 2000, we moved to Australia because of the extremely high cost of living in Alohaland & percieved the summers in Vegas to be unbearable. We vacationed in LasVegas 2004 & 2007 but the high prices in Honolulu keep us in Australia til we win a lottery! The employment rate in Hawaii is due to only rich people being able to live there! Otherwise, the 'poor' people are living in nice weather but much worse conditions than we really care to admit! & if the Big Island Volcano Blows, there's really no escape! Count yer blessings & ignore the rest!
Try Henderson before you get stranded in the middle of the Pacific!
Merry Christmas!
[I'd LOVE to be listening to good ole yankee noise wid a coupla Jack-In-Da-Box tacos instead of this Australian twang n meat pies!]
