Yes, this is possible. Usually blindness is passed through from parents or grandparents. That's why people must be so careful when choosing the 2 dogs they want to breed. Usually dogs that are prone to this are, pure white dogs, boxers, bulldogs and dalmatians. It can also be caused by problems the mother had during birth or during pregnancy. The ***** could have been cruelly hit, or had a serious accident. Overall though, Yes, puppies can be born blind.

Technically they are not "blind" but they can not see. A puppies eyes are underdeveolped and the skin of their eyelids is sealed together. They can not see or hear anything at all until approximatley one week old. Some breeds open their eyes sooner, some later. My mini Aussie puppies eyes are not fully open until almost two weeks, but labs' are usually open about a week old. Their eyes and ears open at the same time. However, a puppy still can not see very clearly fr a while after their eyes first fully open because of the membrane that is covering the eye.

Puppies are born with their eyes sealed shut so they can't see until they open until they open until 10-14 days. However they really aren't blind unless they is something wrong with the pups eyes that make it blind in which case it will be blind when it grows up.
