Best way to avoid rat droppings in peanut butter: Buy your PB from a store that grinds it on site. These places have the peanuts in a clear bin with the grinder at the bottom. Most store fill up some containers with peanut butter and have them on a shelf below the bin. This is likely in the fruit & vegetable area, or in the area with bins of flour, etc. It's just ground peanuts, nothing added. You can add a bit of salt if you like. It's a coarser grind that supermarket brands. I grind it a bit more at home and add a bit of salt.

Why, yes it does. It is quite common for most processed peanut butters to have rat poop to give it flavor. Rat poop is highly nutritious and quite moist, making it an ideal additive.

OF COURSE IT DOESN'T HAVE RAT POOP IN IT!!!!

That's just a really bad myth you heard from some moron. Yes chocolate does have insect parts in it but the FDA does actually do its job and make sure our food is relatively safe, aside from artificial sweeteners. There is not rat poop in your peanut butter.

I wouldn't go that far but rodent hairs are allowed at the rate of 1 hair per 100g of peanut butter. And that is legally by food safety scientists! I'm just glad I don't eat the stuff.

Not the well manufactured ones....I suppose if the manufacturer isn't keeping a clean factory, then it could happen...but hopefully not!
