"Canon", is a word that means that something is "official". For example, the six Star Wars movie are considered to be "canon". They are officially recognized by everyone has Star Wars "history". The numerous books, comics, fan films, games, etc are not considered to be "official" Star Wars history. They are "non-canon".

When speaking of the Bible, realize that there are hundreds of thousands of books that have been written about Jesus and God, but not all of them are considered "official" by the Christian Church. Take the recent DiVinnci Code by Dan Brown as an example. No one considered that to be an "official" book about Jesus. It is a work of fiction.

The Bible "Canon" is the list of books that are recognized by the Christian Church as the "official" books that tell the "history" of God and Jesus.

Like, they say the apocryphal Gospel of Thomas isn't part of the canon, and all that means is that when they were deciding what was going to be considered inspired and sacred, they voted not to include it in "The Bible".

The set of books that men we don't know decided would be called "holy." interestingly, one criteria for whether a book would be included was whether it referred to the trinity. In other words, the procedure for deciding which books were in predetermined the result. kind of sick if you ask me. Even more disgusting was the fact that it was such good news that xians everywhere fulfilled the great commission by enforcing it with a sword and a noose. those silly xians.
