Luke 2:8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ[a] the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger."
13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
14 "Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests."

Luke 2:8
But the angel said to them: “Have no fear, for, look! I am declaring to YOU good news of a great joy that all the people will have, 11Â because there was born to YOU today a Savior, who is Christ [the] Lord, in David’s city. 12Â And this is a sign for YOU: YOU will find an infant bound in cloth bands and lying in a manger.” 13Â And suddenly there came to be with the angel a multitude of the heavenly army, praising God and saying: 14Â “Glory in the heights above to God, and upon earth peace among men of goodwill.”

Whatever they said, the shepherds were struck deaf, mute, and incapable of writing becuase there is no record anywhere by the shepherds of what happened. The first appearance of that story is in a gospel written eighty+ years after that event. The shepherds were long dead and left no written account. Amazing how no witnesses ever wrote anything. Wait a minute, if you go to the writings of jesus, oh wait, he didn't write anything either. hmmmmmm....

"Fear not, for I bring you good tidings of great joy; for unto you is born this day in the city of David, a Saviour who is Christ the Lord."
---taken from the King James Version; not the only version of the Bible, just the one I memorised this from as a child
