Last night I had two separate dreams that were along the same lines. The first one was something about being in a college dorm where I had to go door to door to get money. I was dressed up in this red velvet outfit with Christmassy trim, and everyone kept telling me how stupid I looked. But then some other girls did the same thing, dressed in the exact same outfit, and they got tons of money, and everyone thought they were great.
In the secoond dream, I was in a beauty contest or something (like that would ever happen!), and it was the evening gown competition. I was the first to walk across the stage, but the judges weren't there yet; they were running late. By the time the second girl walked across, they were there. So all the other girls got scores, but I got a zero because they didn't see my outfit.
I'm waaaay too old to be concerned over stupid stuff like clothes and popularity contests--what in the world are these dreams about?

You're about my age, I took a look at your profile, and noticed a question where you got your ears pierced about 20 years ago... Middle age is great in a lot of ways, you become more sure of who you are, and as you said, you're way too old to care about stupid stuff like clothes and popularity contests, you care less about what Cosmo has to say, and more about getting things done, and pursuing emotional and spiritual development instead of the latest shade of eyeshadow. Unfortunately, the rest of the world is not necessarily mature enough to appreciate the experience and leadership you can bring to it. Perhaps the problem is not with your attitude toward such things, but the attitudes of others around you...... Coping with such a world can cause self esteem issues though.... I'm reminded of a line from Fried Green Tomatoes "I'm to old to be young, and too young to be old!" It's a little hard to find one's place in middle age, and see where you fit....

this dream is all about yr self esteem and feeling insecure. A college dorm has lots of room...buildings and houses signify emotion, different rooms for different parts of yr personality. You don't feel comfortable there, you have to put on a costume, it isnt you, and yr asking ppl for money. Youre asking ppl for security. Youre putting on a costume, putting on a face. Youre not comfortable with this.
The second dream is the same. Youre putting on an outfit to impress people, what faces and guises do you put on in real life? Do you always feel like yr competing and being judged? And you're saying yr way too old to be concerned about these things...but you really still are. Learn to be comfortable in yr own skin.

On some level you feel cheated in life;like you haven't had the same advantages a others. It is common to feel this way. Is it possible that self esteem issues have hindered your endeavors? Ask yourself.
