Ok I just had this done TODAY!!!! You will be FINE! Medicine has come a long way, I had this test done 5 years ago and they had to stick me everytuime they took the blood, this time, they stuck me ONCE and kept the needle in the entire time so they wouldnt stick me again, they just blocked off the passageway and when it was time to draw blood they let it flow right out.
They stick you, take some blood, test it and then you drink that orange sugary drink, then they take your blood every hour for 3 hours. The drink is not ooooo bad, it tastes like an extra SWEET orange crush or sunkist. I just got sick of tasting it, but it is the size of a coke can.

Good luck, you will make it I promise!! Email me if you have ANY questions!

Don't be scared. Getting a GTT is a piece of cake. You'll probably end up getting bored because it takes a while... mabe a couple of hours. Most likely, you'll leave there being told what you already suspect... you'll have to eat better and exercise more.

Here's a couple of tips to avoid blood sugar issues. Stick to the foods that our bodies were designed for... natural foods. The closer you stick to veggies, fruits, whole grains, nuts, etc. and further you stay away from processed man made junk, the bettter. Get out and do things on as close to a daily basis as possible. An hour a day of something fun. Walking, jogging, biking... whatever.

Here's a pretty cool article on what they will be looking for:

I had the very same test at age 17. Unless it has changed, which I don't think it has, this is how it will go.

You will drink this soda type drink. Mine was a very syrupy sweet Sunkist-type drink.
Then in about an hour, you'll pee into a cup.
Then in another hour after that, you'll pee again.
Then in the third hour, pee again.
They will analyze it and let you know.

I was diagnosed with hypogylcemia and my doctor told me it was because I wasn't eating enough.

The only thing is maybe they will take blood instead of having you pee in a cup.

Good luck and I wish you the best!

Bring a good book to read. It will probably be take a sample, drink this sweet stuff, every half hour take a sample. Mine was 2 1/2 hours, overall

i think that they will just take a few blood samples, and other tests. it shouldn't hurt. just don't look at the needle when they take a blood test. it usually doesn't hurt. just don't act nervous. that's just scaring yourself.
