My neighbor and I had our property damaged and he called the police. I had heard something and had told my neighbor, the police came to my house and asked me questions I thought they had no business asking(my birthdate, my drivers licence number) what exactly do we need to tell police when they are are investagating? They always seem to want to know more than they need to and even want you to invite you into your home and/or car. No wonder nobody wants to call the police even when you are the victim.

Wow, reading the answers from the police on the board really reminds me of the school of thought that cops and criminals are two sides of the same coin. Both have issues and choose a perverted way to deal with life.

Do need to tell the police not one damn thing.Bunch of Storm Troopers in their viligence to dip into everybody's businss have way overstepped their bounds.Un less you were a witness which you were not you owe them no explanation.I would have cussed them out and told them to get the hell off my pourch.
The trouble with this Y/A is that most of these third world morons think the police can do anything they want.If it would have been up to me I would have really enjoyed blowing their *** to kingdom come with a semi-automatic.
Well now with subsided anger, they really have no right to ask for any idendification.Maybe in Berserkistan where most of these Y/A idiots live, but not here. When that has happened to me in the past I cussed them out after some choice language and slammed my door.I was hoping they would bust in so I would have grounds for a law suit.
To think we had time for a revolution less them 50 years ago.Now they think they can do whatever they like/I get the majoriyy of information from my friend Jack Wright so you know I know what I am saying.Tell them nothing and to beat it.Gestapo pricks.I really enjoy cussing out the police when I know I can.All they are is an occupation force.
Furthermore you can make a copy of this answer and mail it to the flint police in my name.I sure wish they would get that nosy and pushy with me.
In truth the only information I would have given them was the extent of the damage done to my property and then asked them what they planned on doing about it.Tell me what does your birthdate have anything to do with the crime at hand. Why don't they train the police proper investigation procedure? They should have been examining the damage and seeking the culprits.Sounds more like they were seeking to put you under investigation.Under no circumstances invite them into your home.If they see anything they deem illegal they will arrest.you.Never et into their car.Just answer relevant questions from a distance. Thanks very much for informing me how far the police are beginning to get out of bounds.Your Friend larry m That is never get into the police car.And always remember the police are not your friend.Much of what I answered here was my anger at poor police work so just keep in mind the final paragraph.

First off, when your neighbor called the police to make a complaint, you should have told him you didn't want any part of it if this is how you feel. The reason for all the info gathering is to insure the criminals right of "due process of law", meaning he has the right to face is accuser's. Second, because you are the property owner, it has to go into a report showing "ownership" of property. Third, because the officer did not witness the illegal action take place, he cannot testify in court to what happened. Only you and your neighbor can.

this is not as much as the police. while you're youthful and under elderly and your mothers and fathers comprehend the dad and are comfortable with him being lots older than you the police can not do something. the mothers and fathers ought to actively press quotes or the police won't do something. Why deny your baby their father on the delivery certificates in the adventure that your mothers and fathers comprehend approximately this and comprehend he's that lots older than you? Police can not actively do something devoid of the mothers and fathers pushing for him to get in difficulty. by potential of not placing him on the delivery certificates you're risking under no circumstances getting help with this infant.

I love being dispatched to help "victims" like you.
If you want to file a police report, I want to know who you are. If you don't want to give me any information, ain't a problem for me. My report will reflect that you're an uncooperative a$$hole and possibly a suspect in the crime. If this is something your insurance company needed a police report on, you can bet they won't be paying out.
Oh yeah, how do you know what information I need for my investigation ("They always seem to want to know more than they need to"). If you're the smart one who knows how much information we need, then its easy, don't call us, figure it out for yourself.

In your case, you were not required to give the officer ANY information... Most states have a "stop and identify" law on the books... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stop_and_identify
The government, the police, etc... expect unthinking obedience to their dictates, legal or not... The stock answer of "well, I have nothing to hide" isn't even an issue... IF you allow your rights to be trampled upon, you don't deserve to have any!
