I know the true meaning of Christmas Bex, and I make sure my kids do too, we're not going to church on Christmas Day, but we're all going on Christmas Eve!

I think as long as you remember the reality behind Christmas then the commercialism doesn't matter as much!

An awful lot of people have forgotten the true meaning of Christmas with all the commercialism there is and worrying about having enough money Bex. There are many who don't even believe in the fact that Christmas is to celebrate the birth of Christ. I do remember what Christmas is for. I think God would be very saddened by what he sees today that has replaced the celebration of his son's birth don't you? xx

You haven't forgotten the true meaning of Christmas or you wouldn't have a question !!
God is probably appalled that Christians aren't supposed to have decorations or nativity plays or pretty shop windows etc etc etc -PC brigade
I asked my Muslim taxi driver what he thinks about Christmas and he said he and his family LOVE it but he wishes that at 2.30am , some of his customers remembered that God wouldn't be too pleased if he saw what state they were in and what the true meaning of Christmas is- not just 2007 but every year.

Yes, I think its BS that everyone celebrates Christmas... even when they are atheist. Making a family and presents holiday. This is not what the holiday is about. But I guess its convenient to convert a 2000yr old tradition to a day off work.

God would think it repulsive as he has always thought of it going right back to the time of the Constantine and beyond..Roman emperor Constantine tried to use the “Christian” religion of his day to cement his disintegrating empire. To this end, he granted professed Christians religious freedom and transferred some of the privileges of the pagan priesthood to their clergy class. The New Encyclopædia Britannica states: “Constantine brought the church out of its withdrawal from the world to accept social responsibility and helped pagan society to be won for the church.”

I think god loves it when people are happy. I dont' think he is about guilt, like 'you have forgotten me in your fun'. If a loving, peronsable, god exsists and is loving, he would not guilt us, he would be happy that we are smiling and christmas and that would bring him pleasure.
