aren't they aware of the embarrassment they're putting their sheeps into, making their sheeps spread their own opinion as facts that Catholics are not Christians, when everybody knows that Catholics are Christians? these evangelists are making their sheeps look ignorant and uneducated because of their own personal agenda, how sad.

Lucid, maybe you're right, but that's because splitting into thousand denominations only shows that protestants can't even agree among themselves yet they feel they are in authority to say who's Christian and who's not.

Lucid, I hope you'll read Johnny D's answer. there are Catholics who are concerned of other people's spiritual health and for them to find the Truth. I must say I am inspired by his answer. I personally don't want to be burdened with other people's hard-headedness and willful ignorance about the Catholic Church so I choose to ignore them as much as possible. anyway, I hope that you can see from Johnny D's answer that not all Catholics see protestants as comedians as they split into thousand denominations.

Johnny D, only through miracle that these protestants will see the Truth amidst their ignorance or willful ignorance and hatred.

Are Christian fundamentalists just raving, Bible-thumping fanatics? The answer for many is no. In fact, they are a very diverse and often divided group.

Don't think for one minute Christian fundamentalists are a bunch dumb rednecks, they aren't. Their main activists are rich, white, most are "baby-boomers, and their agenda is power and money. Their leadership is college educated and not a bunch of country bumpkins.

Christians who clung to the old belief that every word of the Bible was literally true -- called biblical inerrancy, claim only the belief, they do not follow or live by the rules or teachings of Jesus. The Protestant belief of "faith alone" which Calvin and Luther took from Saint Augustine, makes all of that at best optional or morality of any kind, irrelevant. The only things they really see as "sin" is, matters of sex, not following their religious teaching teachings, and questioning authority.

Fundamentalists have a loathing of democracy when it applies equally to others. One bitter fundamentalist had this to say, "democracy is the cause of all world problems...humans are under the law of God, and thus they CANNOT do anything they want or speak anything they wish to speak...democracy ultimately started with Satan...we can't rule ourselves. God must rule us...those who actually set up America, and drew up the laws were people who did not favor Christianity. Christians living during that time disagreed with those in power or rather the founding fathers. They saw them as ultra liberals, and of course, they were."

While fundamentalism is a reaction against modernism, it also adopted all kinds of new beliefs and practices. Most of these churches have been infiltrated by non-Christian modern theology themselves such as Christian Identity and Christian Reconstructionism. Much of this is loaded with the occult, racism and anti-Semitism. Christian Identity in particular is dangerous due to its apocalyptic theology that creates a mindset of paranoia and ease of infiltration into churches.

Most of these churches try to discredit historic Christianity by claiming that all the prominent commentaries, all the church fathers, and even the Reformers (Luther, Calvin, Knox, etc.) were deluded by "man-made doctrines." New revelation" is claimed and their leaders even claimed to have received "new truth" or at other times "rediscovered truth" that had been lost since the apostles. Enthusiasm was whipped up on the false pretense that Christ's coming was imminent. Frequent false predictions did not seem to deter this enthusiasm.

. Their moral code is that of the most brutal sections of the Old Testament and the Ten Commandments. One will hear "born again" (John) endlessly but little relevance is paid at all to the other Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke that contain the core of Jesus' most important moral teachings. The moral teachings of Jesus thus become optional thus fundamentalists believe they are saved and their personal conduct, no matter how un-Christian, is forgiven. This "faith alone" nonsense is salvation for nothing. They construct God in their own image.

It should also be noted that these cult/splinter churches all hold Catholics and mainline Protestant churches as "spirits of the Antichrist." (Pat Robertson) Most of their claims are totally non-Biblical such as "secret rapture" and the word "rapture" isn't even in the KJV Bible at all. What they really preach is their own politics and the occult.

I do not consider these churches Christian at all. All of their leaders such as Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell, Oral Roberts, etc. have no recognized credentials as theologians. Yet the damage they do to the emotional well being of others can't be calculated.

Make no mistake, their stated purpose is to impose, with force if necessary, a theocracy and eliminate all modern scientific theory and social philosophy. This means entire scientific fields and research would be banned, restricted, or curtailed. All civil law as we know it today would be replaced by Biblical Law based mainly on the most brutal sections of the Old Testament. Even many Christian churches would be banned for their lack of "Christian correctness."

The potentially lethal mix of politics, religious bigotry, and the belief in non-Biblical dispensationalism is a menace to our free society. This was behind the Y2K fiasco that had fundamentalist preachers wiping egg off their faces.

The evangelist say what they say out of fear I believe, could you imagine if the priest stood in front of the pulpit and started saying similar things about the Christian brothers and sisters. It is unheard of, yet they find it so easy to such things, because I truly believe they know that if they stated, the evangelists, that the Catholic church is the one true church, the foundation of their church, the people would not accept this and move on to one that said otherwise. I find it ironic that as Catholics we know that without the Judaic religion there is no salvation for us, then how can they state any different about the base, the foundation of their faith.
I watched this tv program on TBN the other day, yes I am Catholic, and a seminarian and watch TBN, the program was based on the birth place of Christ and the moderator mentioned how the Roman Catholic and Orthodox churches are doing so much to save the only sacred places left, from tradition, that Jesus was born in, died in and was buried and rose from, and how he admired that even in times of war, which that whole region is in, they guard it with their lives. He went on to say that Christianity, all sects, that believe in the Trinity, are born of this sacred relationship with Tradition and Scripture and the need to preserve both. Yet no Christian sect is there on the front line protecting anything, only the Catholic and Orthodox Churches of the world.
The evangelists praise and worship our Lord and Savior beautifully and this is also seen in the Catholic and Orthodox Churches. Each has there own way of praising God, neither should condenm the other, for only the Lord Jesus Christ is Judge and Savior.
God bless and thanks for placing this thought out there. Sheep are lead astray because of the faith they have in their shephard, not because they are ignorant and uneducated though.
To truly love and spread the gospel we must be better than those who generalize.

Because these evangelists themselves are simply loud sheep without a Shepherd (see Matthew 9:36, Mark 6:34).

They have no authority from the only true Church to spread misinformation about Christianity. In contrast, Catholic leaders have apostolic authority. Each Catholic bishop is ordained by a Catholic bishop, across 2000 years of history, to the original leaders ordained by Jesus himself (see Matt 16:18, 18:18).

Their man-made organizations can never demonstrate their authority from Jesus to present their error-ridden versions of Christianity. No Protestant organization can show these connections: http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/12272b.htm

You know I have many good things to say about the protestant pastors I have met. Even when I was undercover as a fundie, the pastors are excellent examples. The ocngregation is another story. I have heard them litterally laugh at catholics, and not only say they are not christians, but well something we don't ant to discuss or giver any credance to. If they call the Pope the anti-christ, well you can guess what they believe about the rank and file.
Even the pastors I have debated one-on-one with were gracisous when I proved them wrong -- they graciously backed down.
The Church in America is in disarry, it is safe to say there are many "cafateria" style catholics taking what they want and leaving the rest. But don't judge a forest by a few of the trees. Attend Mass at your local parish at 6:00am or so on a week day, and meet some of those people. Or go to confession on a sturday afternoon and meet some of those catholics. If you get a chance to go to Chicago visit I believe it is St. Peters In the Loop downtown, where there are masses all day as well as confessions, and a dozen or so Francsican priests. Check the web site the bulliten shows the number of priests, the services lists daily masses every hour. I was truly blessed to beable to visit. It's an awsome parish.

We don't laugh at the fundies, quite the contrary. My fiance agonizies over her fundie friends, and how to help them. This is serious business saving souls, and Jesus our lord and savior said many hard things, including whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood will have eternal life. As we remember from John's gospel many of his disciples left at this point shaking their heads and saying this is a hard teaching who can accept it? Jesus then turned to the 12 and said, do you too want to leave, and Peter, yes Peter the first Pope, and we can see why Jesus picked him, said "too whom shall we go Lord, you have the words of eternal life." I think Perter found this teaching just as inscrutable as those who left, but he had blind faith in Jesus, and so he accepted this teaching and he did it imataing Jesus at the last supper, when Jeusus instituted the sacrament of the Euchrist.
This is why we celabrate the Eucharist as a Sacrament. it's a mystery, we don't question it, we just do it, why ... becuase Jesus said too.

Now, if the fundies don't understand something or cannot find it in the bible, they don't do it. This is a difference between us, having actually walked and talked with Jesus, we call things that He said that we don't completely understand, a mystery but we do do them, because He said to (what human can understand the mind of God anyway. Did we learn nothing from Job?).

As it says in the Book of James the book the first Protestant Martin Luther tried to remove from the bible, "faith without works is dead, show me your faith without works and I will show you my faith through my works." This is so obvious, I do not know why fundies question it, I guess it's all on Luther.

No, we don't laugh at Fundies or other protestants, saving souls is serious business; the toughest thing is to see people who are so sure they are saved by their faith alone, the fundies. Have you ever read Mathew (25:31-the end the goats and the sheep). Jesus was very clear on WHAT WE HAVE TO DO not just what we have to beleive, belif/faith is the begining.
To the protestants particularly the fundies who are soooo sure, I woudl say, Turn or Burn.

I was a fundie and I was a main stream protestant, becasue I wanted to live like a first century Christian. What I found was that the catholics are the true christians, we endeavor to live like first century christians.

We welcome you to the Church that Jesus Himself founded. The gates of Hell shall not prevail against it.
The Lord Be With You.

Luckily, most don't say that.

I was a Protestant for many years before becoming Catholic, and while their was a lot of lack of understand about Catholic teachings, I was never told that Catholics were not Christian.

Most of that kind of hate talk comes from the fringes of Christianity, you would think that they would question their faith when their leaders are teaching things that do not agree with the facts or the spirit of Jesus Christ himself.

Peace be with you!

Good question, I think deep inside of them they known that Catholics are really are the original Christians that the bible talks about. In order to justify their beliefs they try, some what take away title by, to defame or contradict and despise Catholic beliefs. The proof what I am saying look at EWTN on the Journey Home show on cable, web, and satellite where you have excellent converts to Catholicism.

Never once in any service nor bible study I have attended have I ever been told that Catholics aren't Christians. I'm sure it happens on occasion in other places, just as Im sure that some Catholics somewhere sit around and laugh how Protestants split from them and are split thousands of different ways and even argue amongst themselves.

EDIT: Just to be fair, I do not know one Catholic that believes and follows the religion the exact same way from another. In fact many I know dont even attend unless they are prodded by their mom and dad for Midnight Mass. All I know practice birth control and a few I know take communion with non annulled divorces and no confession after many years under their belt. I guess its safe to say that people in general dont always practice what they preach. Including protestants, of course :)

I don't really care what they think.
I'm sure that's why my last 2 question were reported.

Where the Bishop is, there let the multitude of believers be;
even as where Jesus is, there is the Catholic Church'' Ignatius of Antioch, 1st c. A.D

the simple answer would be they are being lead astray by satan who wants to destroy the true church. i am not saying the evangelist leaders themselves are satan or willing agents of satan but they have fell prey to wolves in lambs clothing and false doctrines that only satan can be accountable for, these false doctrines or sola scriptura and faith alone are not expressed in the bible or by jesus at any point in his ministry, that is with an honest reading of the scriptures. trh truth demands you seek truth, and truth will set you free our protestant brothers and sisters in christ owe it to not themselves but to jesus christ to belong to the church he established.
remember, "to be deep into history is to cease to be protestant" (cardinal newman" andto be ignorant of scripture that the roman catholic church is alone responsible for preserving, defending and canonizing is to be ignorant of christ and his church.

these two sites will explain more for those who want to obey christ the way he intended, we know it as the one true holy catholic and apostolic church, the only one that meets all of christs criteria.
