I'll agree with the previous posters....the fake meats and meat substitutes are heavily processed and heavily processed foods should be consumed in moderation. It is true that they have less fat and cholesterol than the meat they are imitating, but what's the trade off?
Pay close attention to the sodium content when purchasing these items. They often contain a lot of salt.
Also look for the GMO label.... You don't want to eat anything with Genetically Modified Organisms. If they are not in the product, it will be labeled as such.
Be careful if you are on a semi-vegan diet (like if you do not eat eggs or dairy, for example). Many of the products contain traces of milk and egg. There are actually very FEW products (by Bocca, Morningstar Farms, Gardernburger) that are strictly vegan.
Other than that, (lol) you should be fine. Just eat it every once in a while. It is pretty much veggie junk food.
Cheers!

All processed foods are unhealthy. The soy used in products sold in the U.S is not the same as the rest of the world. It is processed into an unhealthy form.

There is much on the internet to view regarding this. Always remember though that any research done in the food industry is probably biased as it's funded by one part of the industry or another. The goal is to sell products, not sell facts.

I don't think Boca stands out for any reason though.

Boca is a company... they make fake meat products. If you really miss eating meat and want to have something that's sort of like meat in appearance, but not quite there in taste, go get Boca... it's a good starter food, I've bought from the company myself a few times. However, it's not as healthy as making your own food from fresh ingredients.

I've never been a fan of processed "fake meat". It's loaded with preservatives and spices to make it taste like something. I call it the "junk food" of the veggers. Maybe once in a GREAT while I might have a veggie burger IF someone offers it to me, but I don't buy any of that junk.

If it contains soy, no it isn't. Soy can mess up your hormones and is not very good for you despite what the vegans and soy industry say.
