A thin cotton sock, add a block of chalk, and with a knot at the top - works great.

Good Luck

You know I was thinking the same thing myself a little while ago, but never remembered to try it. I guess you could get a stocking and fill it up. Then twist it and do a couple of layers. I'd say that could work. I'd feel a bit stupid going in to buy stockings myself though, but it might be funny.

A thin sock works great. Or pantyhose has proved itself a few times also.

In a pinch I have put a small block in my bandana. works ok.
A boubled stocking would be a better permanant choice on the cheap.
