okay. i wasn't really feeling well for the past week. then a few days ago, my chest started to hurt like i had bronchitis. so i went to the doctors today. but before that, i took an inhaler only because i really truly couldn't breathe. well she didn't say i had bronchitis and that my lungs sounded fine. could the inhaler done something for her to not hear that i maybe had bronchitis? she just said i had a cold. so why is my chest hurting then?

If you start to run a fever and continue to feel congested, I would certainly return to the doctor. A very high fever can indicate pneumonia too. So keep that in mind. The inhaler can help, however, if you are severely congested, the doctor will still hear a "rattle" sound in your lungs when you breathe. So, sounds like you do probably just have a cold now, but keep an eye on that congestion and possible fever. :)

Chest discomfort has an enormous list of possible causes.
Bronchitis would be accompanied by productive cough and other physical signs your doctor should be able to identify (like sounds in your lungs). Taking an inhaler (I take it it was a bronchodilator) without perscription is not at all wise. The inhaler could in fact diminished some signs but it also depends on the time between taking it and being examined. Anyway your chest could be hurting because of the muscular effort to cough (if you have one) or simply because your cold is a upper airway infection (very common, most of the times viral). If it gets any worse seek the doctor again. Hope you get better.
