a test is conclusive most states at 12wks post possible exposure. In MA they say 6wks would be a conclusive answer. The average time for anit-bodies to appear in ones body is 25days. The CDC will tell you wait till 12wks for your final. But There have only been a few cases where someone tested neg. at 6wks but turned around to be positive at 12wks and they say 6months for those who have had certain diseases and weak immune systems. good luck

sorry but Amber is about as wrong as she can be....
HIV is a very slow growing virus....it can take literally years for a viral load to build up enough to be detectable IF you have a really strong immune system and are healthy. Most doctors will tell you that if you test clear at six months, then you are likely not infected.

The average is 21 days.

However, this can vary widely. There is no set time...it may longer for antibodies to show up in some people than it does in others.
