if a person attends a gathering and gets contact with second-hand smoke for 2 hours, how does that affect him. Will their lungs and body detxify itself. Is there a chart that states ie: 6 people smoke in a room, then you will be affected this specific way, and the body will detoxify itself by this way.
I read that Short exposures to secondhand smoke can cause blood platelets to become stickier, damage the lining of
blood vessels, decrease coronary flow velocity
reserves, and reduce heart rate variability,
potentially increasing the risk of a heart attack.

Secondhand smoke contains many chemicals that can
quickly irritate and damage the lining of the airways.
Even brief exposure can result in upper airway changes
in healthy persons and can lead to more frequent and
more asthma attacks in children who already have
asthma.
But what is considered brief exposure?

Anytime you breath toxic things like smoke in, it goes into your lungs, blood stream, etc. I does eventually go out, however, the damage is done to lungs when repeatedly exposed to smoke. Second hand smoke is like being a smoker with prolonged exposure.

People with asthma suffer greatly when exposed to smoke, cigarette and otherwise, since it restricts their air ways which are already compromised.

I think when someone has a get together, such as the one you went to, they should ask people to go outside to smoke. I am angry with the attitude some smokers have that they have a "right" to smoke. Nope, not when others are affected. If they want to kill themselves, they can do it with no one else around.
