An oddly serious answer from me:

If there is such a thing, I think it would be to ensure the continued separation of church and state (a distinction that has been muddied here and there).

We'd like to believe that decisions which are out of our control are made based on logic and reason.

We'd love it if everyone just acted like decent moral people in spite of their religions, should they actually need to belong to an organized version.

I don't think atheist have an organized, joint agenda. Atheist have a array of reasons for not believing. In many, the Bible just doesn't add up to them logically. Others, and many of my atheist friends fall into this catagory, is that they just don't want to be associated with what they consider a hypricritical, closed minded theology. They see people who claim to be Christian or whatever, but don't act it. So they don't want anything to do with it. I think that most atheist are very intelligent and smart people. They put little store in myths and legends, they deal with firm facts. Many atheist will discuss their believes or non-believes if the other person does not start this comdemning game and telling them how wrong they are game. My atheist friends are very open minded. If you look at the court cases, in almost every instant, atheist reacted to some churches action. So I would say that their only agenda is to not have religion forced upon them.

The Athenda is as complicated as its "contributors". a number of the main severe tenets (interior the US) are: a million) The well-being and welfare of the SC&C (separation of church and state). the long term era objective incorporates undoing blunders made in the process the chilly conflict. 2) the secure practices of the Rights of the guy (oftentimes expressed as protecting the form and noticeably the bill of Rights). This one is as a rule a balancing act, an extremely dynamic stability. no longer purely do the RotI could be shielded from extremists that have faith that their faith could be all of us's faith, whether it would additionally be shielded from extremists that have faith so strongly that faith is unfavorable that they like it bumped off (a small yet substantial faction of Atheists). secure practices of the RotI is as a rule diffused like the shortcoming of privateness supposedly excused via the could "defend" persons from terrorist (severe religious) assault. 3) Pursuing equivalent Rights for all voters which includes prejudice against loss of religion. Many states nonetheless have regulations against Atheists keeping public place of work and different comparable inequalities. an significant element of the contributors do no longer additionally be attentive to they are contributors; it fairly is definitely one of its fabulous weaknesses. maximum Atheists at the instant are not area of any prepared faction yet do know the could pursue the above tenets while they have been defined. Many are disinterested or perhaps see a risk in organizing (transforming into to be like a suitable heavy “prepared” faith or political social gathering) and prefer to no longer be an element of a stream. in spite of this this is taken under consideration necessary motivate all Atheists to be waiting to vote or perhaps act while their way of life is threatened (like a armed forces of inner maximum citizenry). upload: The Athenda isn't the comparable with the aid of fact the Gaygenda nor the Pagenda. nonetheless they are critically distinctive they do agree on the above 3 tenets.

OOOH---an AGENDA! Is it secret? Does it involve forcing everybody think the way I do? No thanks, I have my own.

My personal agenda is to do good, be kind and make a positive difference in my community and in the world.

I can't really claim this for Atheism, though, because I know a lot of Theists, including Pagans, Jews, Christians, et. al. who have the same agenda.

Namaste,
-Z

later: thisisme, Don't know which Atheists you've been talking to, but I am secure enough in my beliefs that I don't feel a need for everybody else share them. Same goes for my Atheist, Pagan, Christian & Jewish, oh - and Humanist- friends.

I can only tell you that at the EAC, we have modified the Jesuit's plan (you know, the Gang of Fordham). We sneak into barbershops, and while waiting to get our haircuts, we replace the copies of Field and Stream with Skeptical Inquirer and other free-thinking materials.

In schools, we attend board meetings and brainwash the members into purchasing biology textbooks recommended by the National Center for Science Education.

We're still working on how to appear sincere and glassy-eyed enough to get jobs as Sunday school teachers so we can bring in Power Point Presentations of Dr. John Davis's "Living Dinosaurs", explaining the evolution of birds.

Funny you should ask this question. Last night, during my "random" reading & researching of different issues, I stumbled/discovered upon some information which lead me to a hyperlink about the Atheist Agenda ... which lead me to another link, which lead me to Wikipedia & a quick primer on the Satanic Bible. Woah! Sounds like I stumbled upon the missing link!!!

Here's the link to Wikipedia:

The lady on CNN said that it was to destroy religion.
ATHEISM
Atheism is a doctrine that states that nothing exists but natural phenomena (matter), that thought is a property or function of matter, and that death irreversibly and totally terminates individual organic units. This definition means that there are no forces, phenomena, or entities which exist outside of or apart from physical nature, or which transcend nature, or are “super” natural, nor can there be. Humankind is on its own.

The following definition of Atheism was given to the Supreme Court of the United States in the case of Murray v. Curlett, 374 U.S. 203, 83 S. Ct. 1560, 10 L.Ed.2d (MD, 1963), to remove reverential Bible reading and oral unison recitation of the Lord's Prayer in the public schools.

“Your petitioners are Atheists and they define their beliefs as follows. An Atheist loves his fellow man instead of god. An Atheist believes that heaven is something for which we should work now – here on earth for all men together to enjoy.

An Atheist believes that he can get no help through prayer but that he must find in himself the inner conviction, and strength to meet life, to grapple with it, to subdue it and enjoy it.

An Atheist believes that only in a knowledge of himself and a knowledge of his fellow man can he find the understanding that will help to a life of fulfillment.

He seeks to know himself and his fellow man rather than to know a god. An Atheist believes that a hospital should be built instead of a church. An Atheist believes that a deed must be done instead of a prayer said. An Atheist strives for involvement in life and not escape into death. He wants disease conquered, poverty vanquished, war eliminated. He wants man to understand and love man.

He wants an ethical way of life. He believes that we cannot rely on a god or channel action into prayer nor hope for an end of troubles in a hereafter.

He believes that we are our brother's keepers; and are keepers of our own lives; that we are responsible persons and the job is here and the time is now.”

Hi Bettie,
I believe that the Christian agenda should be to follow GOD'S WORD. However, a number of so-called Christians do not even know what that is today. The Atheist does not believe in GOD so their "agenda" should be to seek enlightenment in "other means". They have as many diverse ideas as the so-called Christian Denominations do. Have a wonderful week. YOU really do brighten my day young lady!!
Thanks,
Eds
