I was fortunate because I never got stretch marks at all. But I hear that there are some great creams out there and they tend to fade once you have the baby and aren't so bad afterward.

i hate to tell you this, but from what i've read and what my doctor told me, stretch marks are hereditary. if your mom got them, chances are so will you no matter what you try.
that being said, my bf swore by a cream by Mustella during her pregnancy. it is expensive, but popular. i used Palmers cocoa butter- the one on the little screw top jar and also body butter from The Body Shop. there are lots of different scents to choose from. i like mango the best. i did not get stretch marks, but my mom didn't either.
don't stress out too much about it. being healthy is more important. the good news is that some stretch marks fade after you have the baby. and i swear, guys really don't notice them- especially with the huge **** you're gonna get!

It completely depends upon your skin / genetics. Some people get them, others don't. I use a cocoa butter / emu oil, but was told by my mid-wife that it won't really work. Lol - Oh, well! Just to keep eating a healthy diet, not to gain too much weight and excercise to keep toned as skin tone (and circulation) will help in "avoiding" stretch marks (IF you can avoid them).
Some of the time, yes, stretch marks will fade, but not always.

Some people get them no matter what they do. I used cocoa butter on my abdomen when I was pregnant with my first child, and never got any. But maybe I wouldn't have gottten any anyway!
I didn't do anything with my second pregnancy, and didn't get any stretch marks then either.
Once you get them, they are there forever, although sometimes Vitamin E oil can help. Worth a try.

Hi there, there are some great creams on the market. While your pregnant Palmer's coca butter is great because it helps prevent stretch marks (www.palmerscocabutter.com). After bub is born i would recommend Bio-oil (www.bio-oil.info). No stretch marks for me, Everybody is different though!

I started getting stretch marks at 4 months pregnant even though my weight gain was small (I started out 5'9 at 160 and ended 193). I got about 6 of them on each of my love handles and a bunch on my breast. I immediately started using palmer's cocoa butter morning and night because it freaked me out that I got them so soon (and they were the deep purple kind). I applied it everywhere from my breast down to the bottom of my butt (cause yes you can get them on your back and on your butt). I didn't get anymore except on the inside of my thighs (where I hadn't applied any cocoa butter). Palmer's cocoa butter also makes a bath soap you can use in the shower (like ivory bar soap size) to keep your skin extra hydrated. They're really cheap too like 1.50 a bar. Be careful of what kind of soap you are using in the shower because even though they say 'moisturizing' they can be striping the natural moisturizers from your body and cause dryness anyway.

You can get all sorts of creams these days that help prevent them but doesn't make them go away completely (nothing will do that). Once you have them, that's it. You can help to fade them but they never go away. Start with the cream now. I have stretch marks on my belly, thighs and boobs. Most chemists have creams or supermarkets.

Ugh these answers are making me sad because my mom has bad stretch marks and I can pretty much guarantee that I will have them too... :-( Everytihng that I've read says to use lotion twice a day, and that's about all you can do. Also, exercise helps.

It depends on your height, i.e my partner is 4' 11" and her stretch marks are on the bottom of her bell and round the sides.
