Well, this kind of proves one of my statements before. Al Gore has succeeded in making the terms "global warming" and "man-made global warming" synonymous. Global warming is the natural warming created by greenhouse gases. Man-made global warming is the theory that humans have an effect on the climate by releasing CO2 and methane (the two major greenhouse gases that humans and animals are attributed to) into the atmosphere.

Global warming is not proven to be happening, they only see a slight increase in temperature over the last 147 years (since they started keeping temperature logs). The only problem is the thermometers used were the old mercury style that really didn't give a completely accurate temperature reading. The readings were also taken at a time when humans couldn't put these thermometers at many points in the world. So the temperature readings of that late 1800's and early-to-mid 1900's are flawed in that manner. Now they have digital thermometers that are far more accurate, especially considering they take into effect the wind chill and humidity. Now this slight 0.6 degree increase over the last 147 years could just be due to technology, but that is not proven either. The best evidence that it is not happening, is the fact that it is not proven to be happening. 0.6 degrees over 147 years, a time when a little ice age ended. Sounds like it is more due to better technology rather than CO2 output. CO2 may or may not be causing this increase, scientists haven't proven this yet. They may make claims, but they won't put their careers on the line and state this.

So the debate will continue until this theoretical science is proven to be correct or wrong.

Well, it is pretty well impossible to prove a negative. However, here is my proposition;

We must understand what we are being told. First, is the world's temperature rising? Second, if so, is it normal? Third if not what is causing it? Fourth, if so, is it detremental? Fifth, if so, can anything man does change it?

Answer to First: Well, it does seem so. At least somewhat.

Answer to Second: Well that also seems so.

Answer to Third: It appears that there are many factors. The greatest influence seems to be an increase in Solar activity.

Answer to Fourth: Nothing detremental has happened nor appears to be happening so far. Most of the "damage" is projected as occurring in the future IF certain assumptions prove true.

Answer to Fifth: It seems highly unlikely that any actions taken by man can make much of a difference either way. It is also equally possible that we are now beginning the downward part of a recurring cycle and will be contemplating Global Cooling over the next couple of decades.

In conclusion, it is my finding that while there may have been an increase in temperature in some areas they are pretty much offset by drops in other areas of earth. A mean increase of a half a degree or so is within normal limits. Analysis of the cycle over a long enough period reveals a much greater probability that temperatures have completed the upper range of increase and will now begin a slow but steady decrease in mean temperatures.

The greatest proof that the claims of a "Man Made Global Warming Chrisis" are fiction can be obviously found in the behavior of its proponents. We have seen scientists who disagree with the findings ridiculed and threatened. We have seen repeated attempts to end any debate. We have seen repeated attempts to silence the opposition. We have seen deliberate attempts to manipulate data.

To the truly neutral, it would seem that one side is despirately trying to silence the other. Not exactly the actions of scientists who have clear and irrefutiable evidence on their side. The only way to test a theory is to do everything possible to disprove it. NOT end debate. Threatening to discredit or even strip credentials from scientists who ask questions or offer possible other explanations smacks of a cover up rather than a quest for the truth.

Merry Christmas!

There is lots, and lots and lots....
Global warming is happening, but not on the scale that the scaremongers would have us believe. (or man made!)
In the mid 1930's amongst the most polluted Industrial age there was summertime freeze and the world was heading for a new Ice Age, and then again in the 70's .
Only a few million years ago the North of England was tropical with lions wandering around, in the time scale of mother earth thats like a few seconds.
We have aways had troughs and peaks, nature has a way of sorting itself out.
What we should be worried about is overpopulation and Land fill space.

Documentary: Great Global Warming Scandal
Book: Scared to Death and many others
You don't have to look to far to find the correct explaination from notable, respected scientists (often silenced by mockery).

Even the founder of Greenpeace has departed from the group unhappy with their activities and often airs his distrust of the Global Warming Money Machine.

But what do I Know (opinion is a personal thing, make up you own mind and stick with the truth)

The earth is warming but there is *NO* emperical evidence that there is a dangerous warming trend going on because:

1) The earth has warmed more in the recent past without the assistance of humans (trees have been found under greenland glaciers from 1000 years ago, roman silver mines in alps uncovered after 2000 years)

2) Real measurements of the troposphere today contradict the computer models used to "predict" dangerous global warming.

3) According to satillite data, the temperature has not warmed in nearly 10 years despite a 4% increase in CO2 concentrations.

I don't know but,
As I get older I think back to a few "the end of the world is nigh" scenarios that seemed to disappear after a while.
The acid rain was killing things so fast, there shouldn't be a clean lake in north America.

If I have to bet on a winner between nature and man, I'll bet on Nature
As I said I'm ignorant of these things, but its a thought

There is no evidence that humans are not the main cause of current global warming and there is plenty of evidence that it is a dangerous and excalating trend.

For all those who say no worries just another scare campaign, well excuse me but many of the prior so called scare campaigns were nothing of the sort. They were very rational warnings. some were ignored and we suffer for it, others were taken up and appropriate action was taken thus averting unnecessary damage.

Ozone depletion has been successfully dealt with by banning the worst offending chemicals. That by the way made almost no difference to peoples life style (as the opponents of change claimed it would).

Banning of persistent organo chloro insecticides such as DDT, has reduced the environmental and human damage they were causing, but even now there is still damage being caused by that stupid experiment.

Banning of dioxin type insulating oils in most electrical appliances from mains transformers to ceiling fans. Lots less cancer from that source now thank you.

Banning of atmospheric nuclear testing.

Hey the list is long. And in each case we are the better off for the corrective measures taken. Had there not been an outcry against these things, they would still be going on! In each case there were the usual shock horror protests that stopping this or that activity would lead to collapse of the economy, put thousands out of work, revert us to living in caves (hardly anyone actually ever did live in caves you know) etc etc. But in each case taking corrective action had no such effects, but has lead to a better safer future. This case also! (with a bit of luck, if its not too late!)

The planet we live on is in constant change and that's something we have to live with ..We the population are guilty only for using resources quicker than they can be replaced ..Global warming is led by governments to ensure they maintain control of us the people ...fear creates obedience ...Just look over the last 20 years if you don't believe me on all the fear inducted issues around the world that have come to nothing ...

climate change is happening but the globe has not warmed since 1998, so global warming isn't happening, altho the oceans are warming due to undersea volcanic activity

Global warming IS happening, but it's not your fault, or mine. Blame the volcanoes. Since earth began, it's temperature hasn't remained static.
