considering custom proj.cheap.cust+cheap=imposs. i know!some designs will only use specific brand/type of barrel due to action design and unusual fit(krux of question)otherwise, I can't see why it wouldn't thread right in.Plus head space etc.leaning more toward 17 HMR Have not purchased rifle yet, just considering option of one of a kind 17 rather than one of a billion off the shelf.Shell casing head size should be the same size as 22 and I believe it would chamber/eject fine.Pehaps undoubtable mag. modifications are going to be required.Richard's micro-fit stock.(ossum price/quality esp. colored laminates)Who knows, I might have started something with these cheap little trainers.

You're talking about a rebarrel job.
The magazine would not work,
(the Mag. or HMR is a longer round).
You'd probably have to modify the action as well.
Though .22RFs are low pressure in general, the Mag.
rounds produce higher pressure, so that would have
to be checked for safety in the subject action.
You'd spend WAY too much for what you'd get.

Yep, virtually any .22 can be rebarrelled to magnum or .17 as you say, providing that there are no inherent weaknesses in the action. Re-proofing will add a bit to the job. Whether it is worth spending this amount of money on it when you consider the resale value is another question. If you have a lathe and the knowledge to do it yourself, go for it! Post a pic when it is done, best of luck.

if you try refitting the gun, to the .17 HMR, you have to remember to fill in the barrel & re-drill it too, otherwise, the gun will be very inaccurate, due to smaller projectile
