I just don't understand the way you thank, your beliefs. What do you thank will happen when you take that last breath or even last hug from you love ones? Most atheist were christian. What do you believe? Why do you believe it? Do you know? Do you think for yourself, or do you simply accept what others say? Some part in your life you had to make a decision to not believe or never believe in the first place. Maybe you mother or father naver believe and it was past down to you or maybe someone convince you or you just lost faith. Why? What is your story?

This sure is a lot of questions. I'll try to address them all.

Of course, I can't speak for every atheist. The only thing that atheists have in common is a lack of belief in G/god(s). My personal beliefs are probably pretty common to most Western atheists, but they don't apply to everyone.

I was raised in a very devout Christian household, with loving parents. From a very early age, I had questions about religion that no one seemed to have answers for, so I studied a lot about it. By about age thirteen, I had learned enough to realize that I really don't know anything. In my high school years, I pretty much grew out of religion altogether. I continued to study, and still do, as the beliefs of other people fascinate me.

Through my experience, I have learned that the scientific method of inquiry is the absolute best tool we have for discerning the truth, and that faith is a logical pitfall that we should avoid at all costs.

I don't know what happens when we die, but I really don't think it's anything spectacular. We just stop being. That's an uncomfortable concept, but it's the simplest one that fits the available evidence. I take comfort in the fact that my thoughts and words and actions have some small effect on the world, hopefully making it a better place for everyone else.

Hope that clears some things up for you.

Well I'm not atheist but i guess I'm close..i was raised as a strict Catholic and over time i would pray and pray and bad things just happened then i started blaming God then i got to thinking and the stuff the Catholics believe is foolish i have no religion nor do i feel the need to be categorized for weather i believe in god or not I'm just not sure and thinking about it blows my mind but i do no that iv meet Christan's that were very rude and told me i was going to hell if there is a god and he truly loves me i feel he will find me someday until then i guess I'm more agnostic but I'm not atheist b/c i cant say for sure there isn't a god i think I'm a good person i try to help people and be understanding and hopefully when i die i would have made the world a better place some way or another.

For what i think will happen when i die.I don't no but i hope if God does exist i will be excepted if not i at least hope to come back to earth to simply poof out of existence i don't think that's true someone something...made us where her for some sort of reason right?

It's pretty simple really. I do have trouble understand your beliefs too.

When I die, I'm dead, that's it. No more living, it's just no existent.

I've never been Christian. I've never had any religion.

I believe it because I don't see any reason to believe in God. If there was such a God, then why is there all this bad stuff going on?

I accept what anyone else believes, but I do not accept if they decide to push their beliefs on to me.

I never believed in anything other than my beliefs now.

My father is a Catholic, my Mum is an atheist also. No one else has influenced my beliefs except me. My Mum gave me the chance to go to church and to learn about different beliefs and this is the one I've chosen.

Give me thumbs down if you like, but I'm being honest and I'm not going to change for anyone. This is the way I am, just like the way you are =]

Wow, alot of questions there. You don't understand they way they think, the beliefs. But that is just it. There are no beliefs. No Faith that there is something out there beyond what we see here on Earth. When they die, their body returns to the earth from whence it came. Most atheists you think were raised Christian. But not all christians are touched by God and they don't have the faith to believe in him. If they accepted what others say, they would believe in God so atheists tend to think out of the box so to speak. They have a more realistic attitude, a need for proof and evidence. that have a scientific look at life and creation and evolution. It is simply a personal choice.

I was raised Muslim, and now I'm atheist. To put it simply, I'm a skeptic and the idea of a god/gods/creator seems suspicious to me. There are a lot of things I don't understand in life, but I don't make up gods to explain them for me. The only thing that I can claim with certainity is that I know nothing. I just don't understand why *some* people think they have all the answers. What makes them think that they know? If they do know, can they prove it? If they can't prove it, why should I blindly believe in their word?

I am Wiccan and I get put in the same category as the Atheists, and I have answered this purely because of your clause, "do you think for yourself " ...
I am about to tell you something which may be a shock to you..
Both Atheists and Pagans have free will, I do not see that in mainstream religion, as most believers are indoctrinated from birth and thus blindly follow...
Blessings to you .. )O(

I was a christian up until the sixth grade when my teacher said the word atheist. I had no idea what it was so I asked him and when he told me I realized for the first time that I didn't have to believe in god. So, it was the lack of understanding and knowledge that led me to be a christian.

And I might ask you a similar question? What do you base your beliefs off of? Some old book?

Why cant you spell think? Just curious. Anyway, I respect the fact that you love all equally, regardless of their beliefs. I myself am not an Atheist so I cannot answer those questions. But I just wanted to say kudos for your love and tolerance.

Consciousness will cease. My body will support other life.
There are no gods.
There is no evidence for any.
If you have evidence of the truly supernatural, I would love to see it.
I think for myself.
I read the Bible and realized it was ridiculous. I later understood that nothing needs to be explained or dictated by the supernatural.

At the age of five, I realised that god is just as relevant as Santa. The end. Hope you enjoyed my story.

When you die, you die. Let me repeat that for you- YOU DIE. The end. Goodnight forever. End of story.
