OK.... this question was brought up by one of my teammate

He is curretly deployed to Iraq.....
during R&R he wishs to travel to some foreign country besides US, and problem is that the country that he wishs to travel require US passport to enter.

So is there any way to apply US passport, or should I just tell him forget about it......

He needs to find out first if he will be allowed out of the country while on R&R especially to Mexico. There are restrictions currently on where military personnel can go there because of everything that has happened. It might be an idea to also check to see where it is safe if that is where you want to go. He can get a Passport through the embassy but it can be difficult. You should consider looking at a place in the US or US Territories instead so you have less restrictions.

Sure, I just saw something about this in both a spam e-mail my camp put out as well as a recent Stars & Stripes.

Tell him to go down to the nearest Legal Assistance Office; they'll point him in the right direction.
