If you are convicted of a Felony, you are barred for LIFE from ever owning or having under your control a firearm. If convicted of a domestic violence you lose that right for 10 years, on a misdemeanor. The latter is in California, not sure of other states. The Felony ban is a federal law.

Well, 23 months implies your crime was a felony. Federal law prohibits a convicted felon from owning or possessing a firearm.
That you only got probation has nothing to do with the fact the the crime was a felony.

Depends. Were you adjucated guilty? Withheld?
If you're a convicted felon, you probably wont be able to carry a firearm until after the probation, or depending on the crime, years down the road.

Depends on where you live and what you were charged with. In Canada if your charged with uttering threats, violent crimes and sex offences, the judge usually is issues a Section 491 manadotory prohibition order on firearms for- meaning a person convicted of a crime they cannot possess any kind of firearm for either 5 or 10 years.

Need to know what state you live in, and whether or not it was a felony. A felony is an automatic exclusion everywhere, and some applicants will be denied for certain misdemeanor convictions.

If you were sentenced with a felony, then you are barred from having any firearm in your possession.

We hope so. If you are a felon, yes. If no, check your state laws.

Depends what it is that you did.
"Something I did" doesn't really tell us much.
