The fact is that more humans have died for the cause of christianity than for any other reason in the history of man on earth.
People have been slaughtered or died for the Church for the past 2000 years.
Religion has been the greatest cause of destuction and death and the reason for most wars. this is a simple historical fact.
It continues today with our war in the Iran and Afganistan.
How do you live with your selves? How do your reconcile you "charity" and "good will" towards all man-kind with the reality of the past and present?

Don't forget that during the black plague Christians would whip them self and kill any Jews in sight, blaming them for it.
Thousands of Jews was killed by Christians during the black plague.
and hundreds of women was killed because someone said they were witches
The list goes on.
But you'll probably get a dumb quote from the bible

What do you mean reconcile with history? You mean try to justify it? Many things in history are not justifiable. There are bad things in history, there is no doubt. But you do not use history as a reason to hate people. Because of the Holocaust you do not hate all Germans. Because of the Crusades you do not hate all Muslims and Christians. Everyone who took part in the Crusades is dead, there is no reason to hold hate in your heart for dead people.
I don't feel guilty for things I didn't do. I didn't take part in the Crusades so I don't have to "reconcile" with it or take blame for it. I didn't take part in the Holocaust so I don't have to take blame for it. I didn't plan the invasion of Afghanistan or Iraq so I don't have to take blame for it.
Edit: Oh I am a history major by the way and have written history books.

The religions of those in Iraq and Afghanistan are many. The only one's fighting for religious purposes are the Muslims who are brainwashed into thinking that it is a religious war - jihad and all that.
So you can thank your radical neighborhood Muslims for more people dying in a religious war.
And do try to look at who is telling them to go to a foreign country and fight against the British and American armies. And do look at those Muslims who are killing other Muslims. Then especially.
And do look at those citizens of Iraq who are starting to stand up against the radical Muslims who have terrorized them as well. Those people have family members murdered by those in their own religion!
Why don't you see what is really going on?

In can be reconciled by realizing that the Original Kingdom Gospel about "Turn the other cheek" was later taken over by the more aggressive gospel of "preemptive strike."
In other words, Cristianity has moved away from what Jesus was actually teaching. The Gospel of peace and light was left behind in favor of the Pauline gospel of sacrifice for sin.
The Original Gospel is explained here.

There is nothing to reconcile. What people have done in the name of their religion does not affect my faith in God.
I may be a Christian, but there are many Christians who do thinks that go against what the actual Faith says. That's an example of people disregarding the teachings of the Faith, not of the Faith itself rising up and causing problems.

Because people like George Walker Bush who claim to be Christians and start wars in the name of God and hope of peace are not Christians. They are servants of evil who hope to give God a bad name by being a horrible representative. And look, it worked on you!

Jesus replaced into no longer born on twenty 5th December. His certainly birthday is at a while in the previous interior the three hundred and sixty 5 days. the rationalization Christmas is properly known on that date, whether, is that it coincides with the date of a pagan pageant. The early fathers of the church might desire to no longer have adequate money to alienate themselves too plenty from the pagans, and for that reason they set the date for Christmas on twenty 5th December as to appease them. the comparable element applies to Easter, in terms of ways this is properly known in recent times. whether, Jesus replaced into an certainly guy who lived and died in the process the reign of Caesar Augustus. the hot testomony which you be attentive to is a translation of historic records, and as with every translations, some meaning is lost and obscured.

There's always a political agenda. Religion is often used as a reason, but it's usually for mere convenience sake. Men and their hormones!

Simple. Using faith. since facts and reasoning are secondary to faith for these people, faith is the fall back. Kind of unreasonable, as a pun, isn't it?
