Among the people I know, it seems to me like my Christian friends are the ones who are most supportive of a continueing the war. This leads me to suspect that, in their minds, it is a Crusade-type thing. Tell me it isn't so.

I'm not sure what the percent is christian but I do have some simple food for thought
the biggest suporters I have met have been mideastern Christians. One had family in Iraq and beleives US troops are the only ansewer to ensuring Iraq has a first admentment the other grew up in Lebonon and walked to school doging snipers and dose not want to see the same thing happen in Iraq. Even if the US were to pull out there are muslim in Iraq who will want to continue the war. I was opposed to the invation initialy-I beleived Sadam was deturable as he did not use WMD in 1991. Now the question is how to clean up the mess.

Well the Bush administration is riding the wave of Christian Fundamentalism in the US.

They are making it our to be some sort of Crusade.

As a Christian living outside of the US it is diplorable and certainly not something that my God would approve of.

Oh and for those whoe are worried about terrorist attacks and looking for someone to blame, go and do some research on who funded and back the Taliban and El Quaida in the 80's and early 90's - the good old CIA

So what America has sown has come back to bite them in the proverbial buttocks
Unfortunately the message comeing from Government in the US is "if you are a Christian you must support us becasue God is on our side" and "if you don't support the war you are unpatriotic"

Issue: is it just a correlation or causation? Does being a American Christian cause someone to support the war on Iraq?

Christianity in the US tends to be more the Christian Right. While in Canada there isn't a strong Christian Right, you will find some of the Christian Left (ie. Tommy Douglas, CCF). Canadians tend to be less supportive of the Iraqi war.

Most people in the US are Christians, so you would expect most war supporters to be Christians, too.

That said, there are Christian groups that protest the war.

The pope has spoken out against the war.

I'm Christian, and I think the Iraq War is completely stupid. I am most certainly NOT "pro-Iraq". I have friends who's fathers have been deployed, and when they came home they told us that many of the Iraqis aid they are thankful that we got rid of Hussein but that they are sick of us being there. He said they told him that we got rid of one problem, but that we created more.

Wars are evil things and should be avoided whenever possible.

I can't imagine there being many atheists who support the war..

Yet its the Christians who are supposedly peaceful.
