I think humor and religion have a direct relationship. It's foolish for those studying the Bible and other such documents to not take the information with a grain of salt. Finding humor is religion is an excellent analytical skill to recognize metaphorical language, irony and maybe even hypocracy, but also to question the terms of your own faith. Like any other way of thinking, it can be a powerful tool.

To answer your second question, I don't judge other people's religious commitments or the level at which they pursue these commitments. That's an individual decision and it's up to each individual to figure out which level of involvement works best for them in terms of living a life of personal fulfillment.

Humor is my religion, I feel that god has the greatest sense of humor and appreciates mine. Everyone takes religion to seriously; don't get me wrong it is a good thing, but when people do take it too seriously they start flying planes into buildings and trying to kill all the jews.

Cultivated humor and seriousness are sides of the same coin, which is know as duality. Humor's substratum is seriousness, and seriousness is substratum is humor. In other words humor leads to Both makes your face distorted and ugly. Equanimity is what you need!

Satire and Irony are amazing. Best forms of comedy ever. (Besides ventriloquism... but thats besides the point).

My spiritual views revolve around the irony in other religions among many other things..

If someone is too serious... i let them be serious... i dont care.

I believe the Gods have a sense of humor, so it makes sense that I should, too.

But there's a difference between "funny" and "malicious".

I never take my spiritual practices too seriously!

If we were not meant to laugh, then why in the world would we have been born with the capacity to do so?

I think God had a sense of humour when he created most living beings. Show thos humourless people a chamelion. They are one of the funniest looking creatures.
