I just answered a question about free will, and how can God only give 2 choices- heaven or hell. And why cannot we opt out of those choices? Just had an interesting thought- why not be pro-choice about this? And select the right choice- eternal forgiveness and life in Christ. PLEASE do not report this as not a question= it is

I think the first couple answers are proving my point- most things we only have 2 choices in- and we never complain- until it comes to our eternal destiny.

Thanks Tracey- you get it. Most of the time in life, we have just a couple of choices.

if it was entirely up to God who went to heaven or hell, Jesus would not have had to die. He died so that we could have eternal life, and it is our choice if we accept the gift or not

Jesus Christ said, John 6:44 “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day.” So really, it does no good to try to convince others about our beliefs, because they can only come to Christ if God draws them to Him. If He does not, then they will never open their eyes, so all it does is frustrate us by trying to make them see the light. They will see it in their own time or they will never see it. God knows the heart of every man and woman, so He knows whether it is worth taking the time to open his or her eyes. Let Go and Let God.

Don't sweat it! When you die, you're just DEAD! We're animals just like goldfish or dogs and when we die, we're just DEAD!

All those who have frightened you about eternity don't know what they are talking about. See, they don't know for sure and when you don't know for sure, YOU DON'T KNOW! I know, for certain, that when someone dies, they are dead.
Those who would tell you about eternity have no evidence, it is only something THEIR RELIGION made up! There are other religions that don't have eternity as part of their belief as there is no evidence other than what the "eternity" folks tell you.

Those who warn you about eternity have no evidence other then their version of a book. And the book's only validation is that the book says the book is valid. Hmm ... I remember when I was in English class in school and I learned that you can't define or validate a word with the same word. In science it is called circular reasoning and it is MEANINGLESS!

So, be a good human ... treat others as you'd like to be treated and don't worry about when you die because when you die, you'll be dead ... end of story.

Wow, do I really have that choice. I'm pro-choice and on occasion I'm pretty choosy but I thought it was God's choice about who got into heaven or hell.
I just hope God isn't too picky.

Both of my parents and all of my granparents are catholic. ( I am not catholic because my parents never had me baptised as one, they said they wanted me to choose my own religion ) Catholics believe that when you die you go to pergatory and there you suffer for everything you did wrong on earth. Both my mother and grandmother passed away. I refuse to believe that they are in pergatory. At least I hope they are not in pergatory. I personally dont believe in pergatory. I choose to believe that they are in heaven. The way I view getting into heaven is like they say about having the right to drive. Its not a right it is a privilage.

It depends on your point of view. To me as a Wiccan, the Christian be-saved-or-damned dichotomy makes no sense and does not match my own perception (or the perception of many people) about the nature of Divine love, assuming the Divine exists.

To use the analogy of PrintNinja's question, you placing that choice in front of us is like you walking onto the Wheel of Fortune set and trying to play The Price is Right. All you do is make people look at you funny.

It's not hard to understand. You either do right or you do wrong. God did give us free will to chose. You can either repent and ask for forgiveness or not. At the end of the day, you have only 2 choices, right or wrong.

It's not hard to understand the concept of a choice, but why is it so hard for some people to broaden their minds a bit and consider more than two narrow choices?

because most of us have not yet experienced death and those that have usually can't come back to warn us.
