http://www.bible.ca/islam/islam-moon-god.htm
Moon worship has been practiced in Arabia since 2000 BC. The crescent moon is the most common symbol of this pagan moon worship as far back as 2000 BC.
In Mecca, there was a god named Hubal who was Lord of the Kabah.
This Hubal was a moon god.
One Muslim apologist confessed that the idol of moon god Hubal was placed upon the roof of the Kaba about 400 years before Muhammad. This may in fact be the origin of why the crescent moon is on top of every minaret at the Kaba today and the central symbol of Islam atop of every mosque throughout the world:
About four hundred years before the birth of Muhammad one Amr bin Lahyo ... a descendant of Qahtan and king of Hijaz, had put an idol called Hubal on the roof of the Kaba. This was one of the chief deities of the Quraish before Islam. (Muhammad The Holy Prophet, Hafiz Ghulam Sarwar (Pakistan), p 18-19, Muslim)

The moon god was also referred to as "al-ilah". This is not a proper name of a single specific god, but a generic reference meaning "the god". Each local pagan Arab tribe would refer to their own local tribal pagan god as "al-ilah".
"al-ilah" was later shortened to Allah before Muhammad began promoting his new religion in 610 AD.
There is evidence that Hubal was referred to as "Allah".
When Muhammad came along, he dropped all references to the name "Hubal" but retained the generic "Allah".
Muhammad retained almost all the pagan rituals of the Arabs at the Kaba and redefined them in monotheistic terms.
Regardless of the specifics of the facts, it is clear that Islam is derived from paganism that once worshiped a moon-god.
Although Islam is today a monotheist religion, its roots are in paganism.

"Allah" is a different god than the God of the Bible.

The Koran claims that Jesus is a prophet, but that He is not God, yet Jesus claims Himself to be God!

A true prophet can't lie.

"In the beginning was the Word [Jesus Christ], and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of men." (John 1:1-4)

Why worship the moon and the stars when you can know the One who created them?!

Rev Kip - The moon God, WTF? And you're a spiritual leader? Explains a lot about the mindset of a lot of Christians out there... *Shakes Head* Do you not know that Muslims (and many Jews) trace the origins of Islam back to the first child of Abraham, who God also said would the be the father of a great people? So do you hold it against Jesus that his parents weren't christian? Since Mohammed founded the religion, of course he was born into a different one. And those crazy reference you made about the pagan daughters he allegedly worshiped, you need to study a bit more. Mohommed actually denouced all scripture regarding them as "The Satanic Verses" and said such beliefs had no place in a monotheistic relgion. Anyways, on to answering the question. Keep in mind, I speak of the broader Christian mindset, and not the actual religion itself which preaches tolerance of others... Christianity has never liked other religions. To include Judaism. Anyone recall the Inquisition? Or the fact that Pope John Paul II admitted that the church bore some responsibility for the holocaust because of it's intolerence of Jews? Ever heard the age old tale that we use the blood of a christian innocent to make our passover matzah? Christians want to piggy back off of our religion so they have a love hate relationship with us, but overall can't denounce us because they did borrow our God and not the other way around. The straight out hate for Muslims comes from the fact that while Jews just need to get with the program, Islam was formed after the death and hoopla of Jesus. We don't want to grandfather clause him in, but they outright rejected him. Oh, that and Christians seem to be an intollerant lot as it is (much to Jesus's chagrin, I'm sure).

I like to boil things down to simple terms, so the answer to your question is: YES, in a way. To explain:
You pointed out some of the 'pagan' things that are involved in Islam. One could also point out the 'pagan' things in xianity, as well as man-made traditions in Judaism(which Yahshua was also quick to point out). The greater problem is that ALL have strayed from THE WORD. Islam has some points to it that are Torah-based, as does xianity and judaism, but from those points they stray into things that are 'not right'. If one keeps to the TRUTH of Torah and Yahshua(Old and New Testaments), they would do well.
The challenge is returning to the 'ancient ways' which have almost all been lost. Those ancient ways are the foundation, which are found in scripture ALONE.
One other point: Islam focuses on one ASPECT of Yah. Torah and the prophets spoke of the harshness that Yah would be toward people who would not follow His commandments, which is why we need an intercessor, such as Moshe or Yahshua. (BTW I do not consider Mohammed a prophet either)

First, in Islam, there is truly not to be any symbols of reference to Allah. It is banned.

But, the Crescent moon and star actually comes from the pagan worship of Dionysus, that was present in Turkey when it was overthrown by Islam.

Finally, I thought Allah was actually a desert Jin in the original story, that made him self known as the one true God.?

You are not going back far enough. The Sumerians had two gods in charge, Enlil,Enki, Enil was supreme, Enki second Enki's sign was the crescent moon, he was mans friend, Enil was the wrathful one , the god of the jews. The book the twelfth planet, by Sitchin is a good source of the Sumerian civiliation.

This post is so full of fail I don't even know where to begin. You've made the assertion that since some symbols and terminology of Islam have their roots in pre-Islamic Arab paganism, it follows that Allah is not the same as the Judeo-Christian god. This is the same as saying that since many of the rites associated with Christianity have their origins in pagan celebrations, Jesus is actually Apollo.

If Mohammed and his followers say that Allah is the same as Jehovah or God or whatever you want to call him, then it's true! They worship whom they believe to be the same deity, and that's the important thing, regardless of whatever pedantry you've posted.

Christians worship the Holy Trinity (the Father, Son and Holy Spirit). As your article has shown, Muslims worship Allah the moon god. In summary, they're different persons.

No. Absolutely NOT.

When muhammed was inventing islam, he specifically denied and rejected the divine nature of Jesus, Son of the one true God. In so doing, Christians would say that he therefore denied and rejected God Himself. Hence "allah" that is NOT God.

Further, muhammed then tried to reduce Jesus from Savior to a "lesser prophet" behind muhammed himself. Please not that muhammed was self-declared and had NO substantiation of prophet. None. His attempt to place himself above Jesus is considered by Christians to be blasphemy and extremely disrespectful.

So, NO, islam does NOT "worship the same God of the Christians".

Yes in essence the God of muslims, christians and jews is the same that is Allah the only one God.It is based on the principle of monotheism since Adam & Eve upto Abraham,
Jacoob,Moses,Jesus and the last prophet Muhammad pbuh. The holy books Zabur,Torakh,Bible and Al Qur'an were given by Allah the only one God to prophets through Gabriel angel just the same event..God gave us several holy books in line with the development of each era.The holy book should be practised by its followers as the life guide from God..But in its teaching of Judaism and Christianity the genuine holy books (Torakh and Bibel) have been changed by dirty hands .They acknowledge that the God has a son e.g Uzair in Judaism and Jesus in Chistianity. For muslims Uzair and Jesus were only the persons who had been appointed by God as prophets and God's messengers.God spoke in the Qur'an that Jesus was only a prophet and he did not die on the cross because he was saved by God.Ghulam Ahmad was not a prophet because in the Qur'an God spoke that Muhammad pbuh was the last prophet. It means no other prophet after the death of Muhammad pbuh.In jahiliyah era people worshipped idols but after Islam we pray and worship only to Allah no other god than Allah.
