The 10 Commandments don't exist in many other religions. They seem to get along well enough without them! :) The 10 Commandments are really the most basic and simple rules for community living. They are at the core of EVERY human society, not just those based on Judeo-Christian texts.

The Ten Commandments are recorded in both the Old and New Testament. They are also magnified in the very last book of the Holy Bible. (Revelation 12:17), (22:14).

Hebrews 8:10, says that his Law will be written in our hearts.

God also declares that we should remember his Sabbath(Saturday)Exodus 20:8-11). Seventh-day Adventist churches are open every sabbath for worship and fellowship.

May you grow in his grace.

You do err, not knowing the Scriptures.

The Bible does not tell us to follow the ten commandments. The Bible told Israel to follow the ten commandments. They were the ones who were the party to that covenant, and not "us."

And they have indeed been removed, and replaced by the spirit of the law.

And the cultures that developed laws before the Bible? There was written law LONG before the Jewish tribes. Hammurabi's Code is one.

English Common law was the basis for Britain and American developments and those were derived from Germanic law before contact with Christianity.

People can develop laws and know right from wrong.

The Ten Commandments do exist, but some people today act like they don't. So, what is your question?

Most of them have no legal weight whatsoever, anyway. Most of 'em people don't follow.

"I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery."
whatever. that means nothing.

"Do not have any other gods before Me."
A law like this would be unconstitutional in the US.

"You shall not make for yourself an idol, whether in the form of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth."
A law like this would be unconstitutional in the US.

You shall not make wrongful use of the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not acquit anyone who misuses his name.
A law like this would be unconstitutional in the US.

Remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy.
A law like this would be unconstitutional in the US.

"Honor your father and your mother, so that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you."
You should honor your mother and father without a promise of a reward, but we have no crime for "dishonoring" mom and dad in the US.

"You shall not murder."
YAY! MY FAVORITE! I hate blood...

"You shall not commit adultery.
The President Fulfilled this law

You shall not steal.
I like this one, too.

"You shall not bear false witness against your neighbour."
If the Nazis come and ask "are you hiding your Jewish neighbors?" I will say "No."

"You shall not covet your neighbour’s house; you shall not covet your neighbour’s wife, or male or female slave, or ox, or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbour."
Keeping up with the Joneses is a law or something.

So I go along with 2 of them.

haha, well you cant simply remove them today, its impossible. but if they were never invented in the first place? well than i truly believe humanity would have been able to distinguish right and wroing and do not kill, do not steal ETC on there own. we would have created our own morality as most of us do today. a few would be lost such as " take the lord name in vain" and possibly adultry/fornication. fornication would be ok, but cheating during marriage i can safely say would still be looked as wrong. but anyways us Christians still fornicate, but you know that already, dont you lol

They were never intended to make us holy, but to point out the need for holiness.

Read Romans 3:20:
"Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin."

John 3:17:
"For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him."

Find out for yourself.

Then people couldn't ignorantly apply them for whichever position they support at any given time. (I am referencing individuals who say "thou shalt not kill" regarding abortion but have absolutely no problem with the death penalty).

If the 10 commandments didn't exist, then perhaps people would look more closely at what JESUS actually said/did, than what the old testament holds.
