they are never innocent..every parent thinks their kid would never do this or that..but yet you brag that she won..so your kid is the bully? there are always two sides to every story...you should make her write and apology to the other kid..violence using fists is not the way to settle an arguement

Where was the fight, on school grounds big trouble, how old is you child, over 8 or 9 most kids settle things with words, which usually hurt worse than physical contact.....
Grade school age parents usually make it worse if they try to intercede, how ever if the other childs parents want to talk about it then your parenting skills will really be challenged, becouse the kidz will be best friends before the parents ever get over it if they interfere in mormal spats... If this is a Bully situation, be prepared to stand up for your child while also explaining to her not to turn into a bully herself....
no one is totally innocent if there are blows struck......

I believe this is one of the few times that the parents can be seen as not agreeing.

One of you punish the kid, send her to her room or ground her or whatever. This is to make sure she knows that if she fights again, she'll be punished and won't be an agressor in the next fight.

The other one "secretly" (meaning pretends to keep it secret from the other parent) supports the kid. That way she still knows its okay to defend herself.

Hopefully what she'll pull out of this is that it is best to defend herself with words (the punishment part); but if the other one in the fight takes it to a fistfight level, she'll still have support should she defend herself (the secret support part).

praise them for not starting the fight and standing up for them-self, but teach them never to start a fight. I've studied and taught martial arts for a great deal of my life, its important to teach kids they have a right to stand up and defend themselves, but that its never ok to begin a fight, physically or verbally.
hope this helps, sounds like you're doing a good job raising them already.

If she's innocent, i take her to lunch, tell her i'm proud she stuck up for her self. Then go down to the school and raise hell like they've never seen before.

Children have to be able to stand up for themselves. If they do not and let people bully them they will be targeted everyday. As long as they do not start a fight but defend themselves I am alright with it.

give them a praise becasue she knew she was innocent, she fought for it and won.

i don't have kids right now but if my kid was innocent or not and he/she got in a fight i would still be happy if they came out victorious.

i told my kids that they better not ever start a fight, but if somebody is harassing them or starts a fight with them they better finish it. my oldest was being harassed by a boy who wouldn't stop touching her. she finally gave him one last warning. he continued and she busted him in the face. i was proud of her for not putting up with his crap.
