Out of those drivers it is probably Gordon. Tony Stewart is an awesome driver but isn't the smartest racer in NASCAR. Jimmie is the most consistent on the 1 1/2 mile tracks but needs to improve a little at non Martinsville short tracks and road courses. Denny Hamlin and Kyle Busch are extremely talented and with the age that they started racing against the big boys they could end up being a couple of the best ever. They just need to learn a little patience and make sure they are still running at the end of the longer races in the cup series.

This is really a pretty hard question to answer and use your brain to do it.
we all know Tony Stewart can drive anything that will run,but so can Kenny Schrader.
Jeff Gordon has 80+ wins- 4 championships and 90
million dollars in his favor.
Denny Hamlin can drive a airport golf cart fairly
well.
Lots of times a good driver has to slow down to go fast
I cant see Jimmie Johnson doing that.
To me a good driver is one with a lot of give and take
rather than one with an attitude -either get out of my way
or get run over,,
I`m gonna go with Awesome Bill Elliott.

Ok here's a little quote "He can win in any car on any track", Jeff Gordon, about Tony Stewart. And to The Cat if NASCAR sucks so bad how come you're answering a question in the NASCAR section. Besides how good would Lewis Hamilton be if he didn't drive for McClaren? Seriously see how he would do driving for team Red Bull or something.

Jeff Gordon......

He and Tony Stewart are in a different league than the other two drivers. Jimmie may get there someday, but he still hasn't proven himself as a dominant driver yet. He needs to be able to consistenly win on every type of track before he gets to that level.

Active?
I'd be hard pressed to argue with A, B, or C.

All time?
Richard Petty...200 wins, 7 WINSTON cups
Dale Earnhardt... 7 WINSTON cups

No one else's even close.

Well...the best? I think that the first three are definitely the ones. Doesn't mean they're the most likeable, though. I'm personally a Gordon fan, though I like Smoke (Stewart) a lot too. And keep an eye on that Juan Pablo Montoya.
