Why does Fred Phelps and his church feel that they have the right to say who God hates and who He doesn't?
Furthermore, who gives anyone the right to say who God will or will not allow into Heaven? People say that it says in the Bible blah blah blah, but if they would read on, the Bible also says "Judge not less ye be judged" which means, "let God be the judge, and you just worry about your life."
I just don't understand how Fred Phelps feels that he is so much more spiritual or Christian, or what makes him think that he has the right to preach such hate and teach children to hate people who are not like them.
Any insight as to why Fred Phelps is so high and mighty will be appreciated..

For those of you who don't know who Fred Phelps is, he is the preacher @ the Westborow Baptist Church who go around the country protesting at funerals particularly of those killed at war. They believe that tragedy happens because of homosexuals. If you google image him, the signs he holds says it all. The saddest part is the young children joining in on the hate.

Only insight I have is that he has a highly misguided belief set, and because he is charismatic and convincing, others gather to him and believe as he does.
It doesn't come from God, most assuredly.
In my book, he doesn't have the right at all - and I'm suprised no one has hired a hit man to take him out - or some disgruntled military family member hasn't shot him at their son's or daughter's funeral.

He's been this way for over 20 years. He used to rant that all HIV positive people should be isolated. Oh man, didn't a presidential candidate say that then too? Scary!
You'd think he'd choke on his own hatred by now. He's definitely working hard at giving Christianity a bad name.
Personally - I'm a rifle and pistol expert USMC veteran and I'm a lesbian. I am part of an honor squad at veteran's funerals. He should steer clear.

Honestly, he probably had a poor relationship with his father. Psychologists have noted that Christians who live with angry, judgmental, or even abusive fathers are more likely to look at God (the heavenly father) and project the hateful nature of their earthly fathers onto God.
If I were you I wouldn't concern yourself with what some guy with a stick up his *** thinks of you. I don't care who you are or what you've done, God loves you, and He always will. That's why He's worthy of our praise and obedience!

Preaching hatred against a generally disliked minority group is a great way to build your organization. So sad that people believe in that crap and the whole evangelicals making false claims about bible mistranslations.

I'm with Brent. How many Christians like this do you need to see before you pull your association with the whole group. If this many bad apples are in the barrel, something is wrong with the apple tree.

That's the nature of religion: judge everyone, but pretend you don't. At least Phelps is honest in his bigotry.

NO CHRISTIAN HAS THE RIGHT TO SPREAD HATRED . THE ONLY THING WE CAN DO IS SAY WHAT IT SAYS IN THE BIBLE AND WITH LOVE AND NOT VENOM. WE ARE TOLD BY JESUS TO LOVE OUR NEIGHBOR AS OURSELVES. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THESE PEOPLE CALL THEMSELVES CHRISTIANS SINCE THEIR BEHAVIOR IS NOT OF JESUS AT ALL .

he is a sociopath, but because he is cloaked in religion, he can't be held accountable or sent for therapy. also, i hate the a*hole, but he does live in america where free speech is practiced, so until they get him on something illegal he will continue.
