Ouch. This may be a painful experience if you have never had a cleaning before. your best bet is to see if they will use nitrous oxide when they do it so you are not aware of it! then the cleaning itself will not really whiten but get rid of plaque build up. my suggestion for whitening is to use a whitening pre rinse before brushing after the cleaning, a whitening toothpaste and also dentists strength Crest white strips to be used 2x daily. The ones you buy in the pharmacy are not the same strength as the ones you purchase from the dentist directly!!!!
Good luck!

Well they polish the teeth to get all of the plaque off. The plaque is what turns your teeth yellow. I'm not sure about actual whitening but after your done, your mouth feels so fresh and so clean. There is nothing to be nervous about especially with the noise of the tools. Just know that it is bettering your smile!! :)

when you go to your dentist. Ask them to whiten your teeth after your cleaning. If this is your first cleaning by the dentist, you might just find that you have a ton cavities. But then again I don't know your age, have a good day.

Bleaching is not a part of a normal cleaning. But if you've never had a cleaning before (shame on your caregiver!), I suppose your teeth may whiten slightly, but probably not much, if at all.

A little. They usually apply tooth polish at the end and use a electric polisher on the teeth.
