Instead of going out to party, why dont you host the party? That way they will come to you?

it depends on the perspective you look at.
for a long time i never did anything for new years as well because my parents never let me because of the "drunk drivers" like yeah people get drunk but a lot of people are responsible about it, and for the ones that aren't, i usually just spent the night at the persons house that was hosting the party. The parties are always worth it, so if you get the chance you should definitely go!

Darn right, everything is overpriced on New Year's. Only amateurs go out. Stay home, save your $$$. Or have a party with your best friends, you can make it potluck and byob...That's what i would do if I didn't have to work...

By staying at home you can avoid waiting for a taxi, avoid waiting in line to get into a club, avoid waiting in line to go to the bathroom, avoid waiting to get a drink, avoid getting into a fight with a drunken idiot, avoid a DUI, avoid spending too much money, avoid crowds, avoid bad music, avoid getting robbed, and avoid drinking cheap champagne.
