They are called Naval aviators. Not pilots who are the ones who steer ships in and out of port. You need a college degree, must qualify for a commission, pass a very stringent physical and go through Naval Aviator training at Pensacola Florida. Once you receive your wings you will go on to new duty which involves further training and refinement of your flying skills. The process from initial inquiry to gaining wings is over a year. There are no "instant on" switches in the Navy with the exception of TV sets on board ships and stations.

First you have to go to college and major in something in engineering, math or science based degrees. Then you will have to talk to an officer recruiter and take the OAR exam. If you pass that an your officer application package is accepted then you will go to OCS and maybe you might get picked up for flight school to become a pilot. You have to be selected through the whole process to ever become a pilot, it doesn't just happen by "joining the Navy."

To be a pilot you need to first have a degree accepted by the Navy for commission as an officer. You can't just join to be an officer and a pilot you have to be accepted.

I beleive the Navy can guarentee a pilot slot but I do not know for sure.

Talk to an Officer Liason Recruiter.
